DR DtM - the Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your dream indicates that you are fascinated and annoyed by the internet, particularly its lack of organization.

It also says, although information you need - job related and personal - is available to you on the WWW, it is difficult to find without offering distractions.

Quoth BK yestereve:

Quote
After twenty-two pages of book, and two sets of liner notes, you might imagine that I'm not chomping at the bit to now write the notes - but I shall, Blanche, I shall.

Blanche was already asleep by the time you posted that, BK, she didn't hear you.

Blanche is once again in the "Cone of Shame" because she has this spot on her paw she won't stop licking.  This syndrome has an actual name that's something like "licking granularium" or something like that.  If we can't get her to stop, are you ready for the cure?  Prozac.  (For her, not us).

Watching LAW & ORDER: SVU last night reminded me of this.

Does anybody remember this show and it's title?

Back in the late 1960s or early 70s, there was a very popular audience-interactive show done in Los Angeles, and (I believe) in other parts of the country.

In Los Angeles, it did not take place in a theater, but in some large Masonic-like hall with lots of rooms, located on Highland Avenue, a block or two south of the Bowl.

Obviously, my memory is very fuzzy on this, but I think the title of the show was a woman's name and it was set in Italy sometime before WW2.

There were no seats.  The audience would come in, stand and watch an opening scene(s) being played, then they would break into groups and follow one of the characters (of their choosing), who who then play scenes with other characters.  Again, the audience would choose a character, then follow him/her.  This would go on for a couple of hours.

A person could come back to the show again and again, each time following a different character and see the play from a totally new perspective each time.

So, anybody remember this play and what it was called?

Was that "Tamara"?

Yes, that's it.

It was at the American Legion Hall in Los Angeles.

I thought it was done in the 60s or  70s, but it was in the 1980s.

Boy, is my memory going.

  :-\

Thanks.

Never saw it and don't know what corner of my trivial brain that was pulled from. I remember, though, standing in line at TKTS on several occasions waiting to see something else and the "Tamara" pushers were practically giving away tickets. The appeal of not having to stand in line almost won out.

DR Jane sorry to hear about your shoulder.  You must love your nook for that reason!

I can't believe how much i am loving my kindle!

That reminds me--I discovered something about borrowing e-books from libraries.  Like a regular library, you can borrow books only for a few weeks at a time and at the end of that period, the book is automatically made inaccessible on your Kindle (this probably goes for Nooks, too.)  But I found that as long as you you do not allow your Kindle to connect to the internet, you can keep the borrowed book beyond the expiration date.  Back in October, I put THE NIGHT CIRCUS on hold and it did not become available to me until the second week in December.  I downloaded it, but because I'm still slogging though the Joe Papp biography, I've had no chance to even begin reading it.  However, since the time I imported the book, I've never turned on my Whysperlync (My Kindle is 1st generation.)  I've received the e-mail message telling me that the lending period has expired, but THE NIGHT CIRCUS is still in my contents and is readable.  Eventually, I will get to it (as soon as Joe Papp shuffles off his mortal coil, that is...)

That makes sense. Although that means you can't view the internet or download any new books. And the person next after you in the library queue is still waiting.

DR Jane: I've been reading your interesting posts about your cruise. I've often thought about doing a cruise but I very easily get seasick so I don't think I can risk it.

There are some bigger ships where there would be much less turbulence. Plus you could always find a calm season for the water. You probably would hardly notice it.

I missed all the brouhaha with the Globes last year (though I watched excerpts on YouTube much later when I was reading about it all), so I think I will tune in this year just to watch the stars squirm.  :)

Jennifer, I have to wonder if "keeping" an e-book would really prevent the next person "in line" from getting it.

It has been *incredibly* windy here for the past two days.  I guess I should call the tenants to see if the fence repair has held up.

I'm listening to a great program about the BBC British presenter

David Jacobs

This is Part 1. It will be available for a week and then Part 2 will be broadcast.

Thanks for that link Ben. I'm a big fan of David Jacobs having been listening to him on the radio for about 60 years. I mentioned him in a post recently. he was the commentator in my all-time favorite '50s radio series "Journey Into Space" - recently issued on CD again.

Heigh-ho!

It is Thursday in Oakland of CA.

I was home sick yesterday.

I have this sinus condition that goes back and forth from being "sensitive to allergens" to being sinusitis with side effects (i.e., a buttload of other stuff).

Literally, sadly.

You go and go.  And when you think you cannot possibly go again, you do.

But that's behind me today, so to speak.

Jennifer, I have to wonder if "keeping" an e-book would really prevent the next person "in line" from getting it.

I've never taken an ebook out from the library. But I know DR Jane does. And I think you have to wait your turn. And I thought the next person only got it when the person before was done. Maybe someone who takes out ebooks can tell us.

Have you ever tried the netipot? They make one now that is just a squeezer. A lot of people i know who have sinus problems use this (i do, my sis does, her best friend does, her husband does). It really clears out your nasal passages!

I'm on a lunch break right now, and then I just have one more lesson/coaching at 1:00. And then I think I'm going to head back to th UES and spend the rest of my day just taking it easy. -Especially since I have an 11-hour call on Friday.

Snow is covering up the grass here.....but the streets are still clear.

I am converting some OLD video tapes of productions from the 1980's to DVD - and there are some embarrassing performances and productions among them.....some of which belong to me.
