Well, you've read the notes, the notes were very 1996 but with a 2012 sensibility, and now it is time for you to post until the 2012 cows come home.

Topic of the Day:  I barely remember it, but I'm sure that I had Internet access at work before I ever had it at home.  The first access that I had at home was in an apartment when I lived in Lacey from about 1993-1998.  My sister's boyfriend had AOL and I used one of his screen names for my account.  I had that for a few years.  Shortly after I moved in with my sister in 1998, I finally got Internet through cable on my own and have had it ever since.  I barely remember dial-up speeds and am tremendously grateful for cable Internet. :D

Today IS a work day.  And our Read O Rama special.....our 15 minute readings that are usually $35 are only $20 on the second Saturday of every month......so all three of us are pretty booked up already.....which is okay.

TOD:

My sister Molly was the first member of the family to be on the Inner Web.  I watched her do some things at her house on her computer - and at the Phoenix Theatre some of the staff members were also on the Web.

I bought a computer in 1992 - a nice Tandy computer - for word processing....it was DOS based and did not have Windows.  In 1998, I bought an off brand computer and signed up with FreeWeb, a dial up service.

I joined EBAY that day, and I also spent many hours looking around for Frances Farmer and Allison Hayes information.

New York finally has some cold weather. Today and tomorrow it's supposed to be in the 20s but we don't have any snow. Fine with me. By Tuesday it will be back near 50 and then it tumbles again!

We went to the library and took out the Complete Series for To The Manor Born starring Penelope Keith. We began to watch it last night after dinner. We also have Mrs. Santa Claus with dear Angela. I guess they forgot to put that one away in the Holiday vault. I've never seen it so we will watch that as well, along with Strawberry Blonde with James Cagney and Olivia de Haviland, a PBS version of Room With a View and the Olivier and Greer Garson version of Pride and Prejudice. Lots to watch this holiday weekend!

Very cold and frosty this morning. I go into semi-hibernation mode during January and February and don't do a much.

I think I first had the internet at work around about 1994. I didn't get a home computer and internet until about 1999.

Neilmed is the company that makes the netipot. In fact what you linked in the picture is exactly what i have.

The real netipot looks like a teapot and is reusable.

What you linked to (it's small so it might not be exactly the same thing) is their new squeeze bottle. Neilmed is the netipot company.

The squeeze bottle is reusable. You just rinse it out.

Good morning, all! I slept very poorly last night and I don't think I actually fell asleep before 3am. I am moving very slowly and I am very, very, very tired. At least I know I'll be going to bed early tonight, perhaps directly after lunch.

The cause of my anxiety? The state of the DEAREST ENEMY scores and my fears that a good friend who's very talented, isn't up to the task. I have to read him the riot act today and throw a fit, two things I am quite capable of doing at any time and place but which I'd rather not. So, this will be an interesting day. It isn't one I look forward to, however.

DR Ben, the new ROOM WITH A VIEW has a good cast - at times - but none of the greatness of the book or the Merchant-Ivory film, which I'd love to see in a theatre again. It's one of the few films in which I can still remember seeing for the first time and being completely swept up in its time and place; PSYCHO, TIME AFTER TIME, and E.T. are three others. There are more, but I'm too tired to think.

I watched SUPER 8 last night...and was rather disappointed.

The first hour was okay, rather fun, but then the story started getting pretty silly and it lost me, particularly the CLOSE ENCOUNTERS homage ending.

I read on Ed Asner's blog that he went to the Studio Café and once again, Mr. Bruce Kimmel was there. This must have become Bruce's hangout at some point.

I would love to see the new "Room with a View" and the Greer Garson "Pride and Prejudice" again. I know the latter isn't everyone's cup of tea, and there are plenty of flaws, but I find the pace and the humor satisfying in a very Hollywood way.

Elmore, I remember seeing the original film of "Room with a View" on the big screen twice and each viewing feels almost as if it were yesterday. I've wanted to go to the Florence area of Italy ever since and see those poppy fields and the blue cornflowers. What great fun Judi Dench and Maggie Smith are in that one, and Daniel Day Lewis and, well, the entire cast.

I had a great day yesterday.

I started at 9:15am. I finished at 8:30pm. I was back on the UES by 9:30pm. After catching up on emails and such, the lights were out by 11:00pm.
