I'm up and I'm sneezing.

I've just finished sneezing. I don't know why but I sneeze about 10 times every morning. I think it's inherited because my father used to do the same.

And Keith was complaining the other day he sneezed 4 times. ::)

Yesterday was a long one for me. I judged a wine competition in the morning and afternoon, which is hard work that was made even harder by the allergies closing up my nostrils way too frequently, making it harder to smell the wines (and aroma is so important).

In the evening, it was off to the cocktail conference, which was held at the Esquire, home of the longest bar in Texas. Mixologists (the name bartender is apparently too passe') were lined up down the bar and made special drinks crafted for the event. The Love Bite, for example, had vodka and absinthe with some other flavors stirred in. Trendy touches were sprays of bitters and loads of hand-chipped ice.

Ice is apparently one of the trendiest topics for these folks. There was even a seminar on the subject.

After tasting about three of those, I went off to the symphony, where the Beethoven cycle continued. The performance of the 7th was spectacular, with a crescendo of energy at the end that induced a wave of goosebumps.

Then it was back to sample a few more cocktails.

Hopefully I'll get a nap in today.

Allergy vibes!

Interesting post on the wine tasting & cocktail conference.

I felt bad that I hadn't been around the cats enough this weekend.  They kept me up all night playing and now are sleeping.  Not one of them is even in the room with me, so much for family time

My cats favorite position is to sit right in front of the computer moniter, staring at me. I have to move my head from side to side of her to see what I'm tying.

Juniors!

I used to do their publicity.

I could write a whole new book on that one.

 :P

Maybe I don't want to ruin good memories.

After Keith & I moved to the Valley we discovered this wonderful deli that reminded us of Juniors.  When we mentioned it to the owner he told us he had recently split off from Juniors.  I don't remember the name of the deli.  I believe he was the brother to "Junior" & the original s in Juniors.

And you can tell she was sitting in front of the screen when I typed that because I couldn't see well enough to type "typing" properly  :)

I had the roast chicken together with the roast Brussels sprouts. I've not roasted sprouts before but they were certainly delicious cooked that way.

Spent much of the day, along with the webmaster, sorting out problems with the editing function of the website which I’m associated with. Goodness knows why but it was refusing to save text. Finally seem to have it sorted but it’s been very frustrating and time consuming

I inspired me to buy just-picked baby Brussels sprouts at the farmers market today. They're the tiniest things I've ever seen. I think I'm just going to cook mine in butter.

I am movied out.  I want to see The Iron Lady but she'll have to wait.  I've seen 6 moives in 2 days....that's enough for now

In the television promos, Meryl's makeup reminds me of Faye as Joan.

Oooh, Meryl Streep IS Faye Dunaway.

The brothers did not get along.

I met Eddie when his daughters moved into my condo complex in Calabasas.

I could write a book about them, too.

I am home waiting for the Big Call on the liner notes. A terrible day for the most part, with good moments.

Am enjoying "Captain America." The visuals are impressive. The pacing is good.

And now the local NBC station is breaking into the LIVE coverage of the leaders' free skates because the Patriots are walking into their hotel.

Keith mentioned the price of brussel sprouts has been great.  He doesn't know why.  How are your prices?

Thanks for clarifying that.  How long was the deli around?  We expected it to do well.

Prices seem reasonable just now although I'm not sure that they change all that much during the year.

Wow that sounds like Harry & Charlie's Meat Market and Butchering Emporium in Mooresville.

Charlie ran off with Harry's wife and it became Harry's Meat Market and then Charlie opening Charlie's Butcher Shop across the street.

That was ten years ago.  Now Charlie's place is empty and Harry's place is a bait and tackle shop.

$5 for a nice basket (about 2 pints, maybe a little more) of mini-sprouts that had been picked yesterday and that had not been sprayed. (Many of the local farmers refuse to pay the ridiculous price it takes to be able to use the word "organic." )

Just saw a Junior's dessert cookbook out. I've got their first one when I went to visit there. Makes me thirsty for an egg cream.

Don't recall.  It had closed long before I left Los Angeles.
