DR JOSE how was the food?  Were there libations as well?  What was the most interesting conversation you had....AND of course what was the BEST auditioning costume you saw?

And did you get any phone numbers?

Did anybody watch SMASH last night?

Reactions?

I watched it two weeks ago online. I liked it, and posted my comments at the time.

*Of course, now that the pilot has been officially broadcast, a bunch of "critics" are coming out and saying that the show is not a true representation of how a Broadway show comes together. Well... Of course, it's not.  It's a TV show. There is so much waiting and tedium involved in the process and you really can't show that in "real time" and expect it to be entertaining and attract viewers. Although, it would be funny to see one hour devoted to a chorus call where you just watch audition after audition after audition. Or just waiting area outside the audition room.  ::)

Good idea.  And as these auditions go on and on, each of the staff members can have a musical daydream.  It might be kind of fun.

I didn't have a chance to watch SMASH last night. But will watch it either today or tomorrow. Can't wait!

I had no interest in watching SMASH.

They are building a new front porch (about twice the size of the old one) outside my front door.  Looking forward to filling it with flowering plants this spring.   ;D

Speaking of composer's (or in this case lyricist's) estates, FJL knows I need to contact Norman Gimbel for some absolutely earth shatteringly important information.  ;)

I'm trying to figure out who suggested I read RAISING STONY MAYHALL.  It might have just been an ebook the library offered.  It isn't the sort of book I normally read (about a Zombie).  If a person did suggest it I would like to thank them.  DR Jennifer was it possibly you?  If not, check it out.

It was such a huge film when it came out my school actually had a special field trip arranged so that kids could go to an evening screening!  With a school bus and everything.  Can you imagine?

I am home from Encores! The production is quite wonderful. the cast is excellent, the use of projections and films helps with the transitions and locales, the orchestra sounds great, this is probably the best possible production of this piece, and I still think the show is second rate. There are some wonderful moments, i think the addition of Franklin Shepherd, Jr in Act Two is a good touch, but Act One left me cold. I admired it and lked some of the score. Then, in Act Two, Celia Keenan Bolger, who is quite wonderful, joined in on a trio of "Not A Day Goes By" with the man she loves and pretty blonde he's marrying and it hit home hard; by the time "Our time" began I was a blubbering mess.

I think the production will be a huge success for Encores! and I wish it well.

After a two year search I finally found the last song for Academy Award song collection. Don't know why I didn't think of it before, but I wrote the composer estate and in a few hours I had not one but 4 versions of the song.

The Cat and The Canary from the movie "Why Girls Leave Home"

The winner that year was "it Might As Well Be Spring" sung by Louanne Hogan. There were 14 nominations that year!

Congrats, Michael!  What an accomplishment. :D

I even got the infamous song from a movie no one saw; which was the one that DR. Druxy set up a 1-800# so people could call it and listen to the song.

Actually I think its better than two of the other nominations: Ave Satani & Come To Me
