WHEN IT RAINS, IT POURS" DANCE:
At the beginning of January, one of my staff was out on medical leave for three weeks or so. She had a goiter and had to have her thyroid removed. When she was cleared to come back to work, she got a sinus infection! She was out again for a few days but that developed into a really bad cold, and now she's off for ANOTHER two weeks because of her weakened condition. And when I got to work today, we found out that
HER APARTMENT BUILDING CAUGHT ON FIRE LAST NIGHT!! They had to cut a hole in her roof to stop the fire that was spreading almost to her unit. Fortunately, the only real damage other than from smoke (which may not be too bad) was water damage to an overstuffed chair and some shelves and the contents at her front entrance. Her building is condemned, but the management company was able to get her a new apartment in another building in the same complex. For the next couple of days, they're putting her up in an extended-stay motel. She's not sure when she can get her stuff out. At least the management company will have her bed and larger pieces moved, so she doesn't have to worry about that.
