Note to DR Elmore:

I, unlike the landlord, have finally gotten off the dime and am starting to make the SHOW BOAT transfers.  If the dual layer discs don't work, then thehellwithem, I'll use single layer and the films will be spread across two discs each instead of one.

I'll be starting with the Criterion 1936, just the movie itself straight through, then I'll be checking with you as to what extras you want.  I'll view them first so I know what I'm talking about.  First question is:  Do you want the Miles Kreuger commentary?

Yes, please! That 1936 SHOW BOAT makes me cry as soon as Helen Morgan appears. She's so amazing.

Hi, DR DakotaCelt, we've missed you!

There's another one I don't know.  They're coming out of the woodwork!

It's nice seeing some of our birdies coming home to roost. We have some lovely members, DR ChasSmith, and you are one of them!

I wish someone were taking the trip with Craig.  With this heat he can't leave the pets in the car during the days.  He figures he will be driving about 10 hours a day without stops.

Will Craig be staying in motels at night?  Or is he sleeping in the car?

In motels.

Oh!  That was not in response to elmore being wanted.

Dakota, if I had known it would bring you back to us, I would have mentioned ICE CASTLES sooner.  Of course, Mr. Hamlich didn't pass away until yesterday, so I probably would not have metioned it sooner.

No packages - well one, but I wasn't going back to get it - I hate Ontrac.  Finished one set of liner notes, so that's one down.  I'll start the other one later tonight and finish tomorrow.

Tuesday morning greetings!  Lunch with the grantwriters today - it was at their August meeting 2 years ago that I had my heart attack.  I will try not to do an encore.

No encores PLEASE!!!
No. No encores. Dr.'s and DR's orders.

No encore today!  I did 5 errands on the way home and arrived in time to put a chicken in the oven for our dinner.

Roast chicken? One of my absolute favorites. Ran two great and very different recipes this week on how to make roast chicken with skin that practically crackles with goodness.

John is your new book only available at your local Costco?
No, it's available at Barnes and Noble and will be in Walmart next week.   It's also on amazon.com and bn.com.

ChasSmith, can I also ask for a copy of the 1936? Just the movie. It's my favorite.

There had been talk of Marvin Hamlisch working with the Bergmans on a rewrite of Ballroom. Does anybody know whatever happened to that?

Here's info on that BALLROOM:

The Bergmans are working on the revival of the musical Ballroom with music by Billy Goldenberg and new music by Marvin Hamlisch, set for a 2011 production starring Tyne Daly with direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell.

JohnG - is today the OFFICIAL publication date, meaning there was a party or something?  Or is this just an Amazon opening date?
