And the summer is officially over.  Long pants have been dragged out of the closet, guitar has new strings, and I wish I had energy and drive to begin this school year.

Beginning of the school year!  Oy!

The arrival of Back to School sales in so many stores (which of course start earlier and earlier each year, just like everything else) always hit me as such a strong indicator of passing time.  In that sense, they're always kind of an alarming signpost -- though my own memories of the start of each school year, from first grade through college, are those of very positive, optimistic times.  How things change!

I've been listening to our leading lady Annalene's solo album, which is really lovely. I had meant to take the CD to Dublin for her to sign but I forgot!

Monday morning greetings!  I slept quite late this morning and have been enjoying coffee and a book - Paris to the Past: Traveling through French History by Train by Ina Caro.  It's raining in SW Ohio, which is fine because we really, really need it.

Monday....I am being taken out for my birthday lunch in about an hour.

Then we have rehearsal for the "radio show" for Airport Appreciation Days at the beautiful Green Performing Arts Center at dear old DePauw...

http://www.depauw.edu/arts/greencenter/

Then rehearsal for Act One of SEE HOW THEY RUN.....

So I shall return later rather than sooner.

We're in for a storm. I'm sure it's hurricane related.

I think I will head home before it gets too grisly.

Our Y is closed today and tomorrow for cleaning and painting, so I'm about to revisit my basement walking routine.

The crews are outside working away.  We have to keep the windows and doors shut to keep as much dust out as possible.  My allergies tell me we aren't doing a good job of it.

I think it looks like an archaeological site.  The white poles are for irrigation.

Elizabeth Montgomery didn't exactly go out for comedy outside of BEWITCHED, did she?

I've managed to see a number of 70's TV movies that I had remembered as enjoying a lot but turned out to be disappointments.  DYING ROOM ONLY is one.  Others are:

HAUNTS OF THE VERY RICH
CROWHAVEN FARM
GARGOYLES
PRAY FOR THE WILDCATS

I'm up, finally.  I went back to bed, fell asleep around seven, telephone rang at nine-thirty, back to sleep, and then another telephone call to wake me up - so I think that all adds up to a little over nine hours of sleep.
