Actually, their mother's church was in Miamisburg, OH, nor Germantown.

Another celebrity  death to report: Louise La Planche died in Ann Arbor, Michigan at age 92.

She is the second girl from the left in this 1940s publicity photo:

My interviewee Rebel Randall is also in this photo, the 4th gal from the left.

Louise's first role was when she was 3 years old, appearing in the Lon Chaney version of HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME. She was busy in the 1940s in bit parts and in the chorus of various musicals.

Her sister, Rosemary La Planche, had a much more successful film career, starring in STRANGLER OF THE SWAMP (1945) and THE DEVIL BAT'S DAUGHTER.

Here is the Middletown Journal article about:

Dorothy McGuire Williamson

I like the "home story" touch to this.

Dorothy McGuire lived in Paradise Valley, near here. Well, not too near, as I live in the poor part of town.

I just baked brownies for my book discussion group pot luck lunch tomorrow.  I'm glad the hostess asked me to make brownies as the batter isn't too thick.  My shoulder is bad today and a heavy batter or chopping ingredients for a salad would have been difficult.

No mixer?

Yes.  A couple of years ago my old electric hand mixer broke and I don't really like the new one Kitchen Aid one I purchased.  It was fine for the brownies.  Even with a mixer it hard to use with my shoulder.  This went so well I should bake some brownies for the men working outside.  I have a big heavy duty mixer which is really too much for smaller jobs.

Speaking of the workers.  It is interesting to watch the men build the ledge wall.  Basically they are doing it the same way ledge walls have always been built.

We are expecting weekend company beginning the 20th.  I fear we shall not have front steps or walkway.

I mixed the leftover fajita from lunch yesterday into a baked potato for dinner tonight.  It is delicious.

What a wacko day, with the web host crap, a really annoying e-mail (dealt with swiftly and strongly although I suspect I'll hear back and depending on attitude we'll see where it goes from there), and stuff, but thankfully David and Bathsheba has had somewhat healthy orders, although I'm now thinking we'd have sold even more had I made it 1200 rather than 1500 - still it's moving fine - and we had a productive work session on Juliana's show, although I had to get very strong at one point - it's all fine, but it really took some time to get my point across.

I had a sandwich for lunch, but had to eat it quickly and got no enjoyment out of it (except for the less than six hundred calories part) because all that web crap was happening and I had to hurry home.  Then Juliana and I went out so she could eat and I had a nice piece of coconut cream pie, which perked me up.
