Did anybody here watching DANCING WITH THE STARS last night?

For most of the couples I am either not crazy about the celeb or the pro.

The only couple where I really like both: Apollo and Karina.

I thought the scores for many were way lower than they deserved.

And giving Joey Fatone the same-ish scores (6.5) as Pamela Anderson???  I think she is by far the least competent dancer. I actually have no idea why she was invited to be an all-star. She was not a very good dancer the first time either.

Mom and I agree Pamela Anderson should go home.  It really wasn't fair to her to invite her to join the best of the best.

I heard the Coen Brothers may develop "Fargo" the movie into a series...

Neither was Bristol...

I agree that Bristol was not a good dancer. But at least she was in the finals. Although i don't think that Brisol should have been asked to do all-stars.

I see the dvd of the HUNGER GAMES. And actually liked it a lot more than I did in the theatre.

Sometimes the second time around you can relax and enjoy it more.

I was trying to think of why I liked it more on dvd. I think part of it is the shaky camera work is not very noticeable on a tv.  Also I sort of knew what to expect from the movie.  But I think one of the reasons is because when you love a book you have ideas in your head what the characters should look like. The more times you see the movie, the more you think of those actors as the characters. When I saw the movie in March I had to try to think of these actors as the characters. But now I am more used to them in the roles.

I need to have a genealogy day or three.  I got into it several years back and have amassed quite a bit on the branches of the family I'm most interested in, but I've let it slide this past year.

I gave up on genealogy.  We have kind of a Family Weed.

Shaky camera!  I'm glad we only watched the DVD.

As for the actors matching the characters.  I think you can only warm up to them if they give you a good performance.  There are a few matches over the years I will never stop complaining about.

I was going to skip my hiking group tomorrow and stay on even terrain at the gym.  They are hiking at the lake by me.  I can't say no to this one as it is simply too convenient.

Today...working

Yesterday, off...free as a bird.

How far is your hotel from a BART station?

DR Ron Pulliam - I'm just five blocks from the Powell Station. Also, I have a Clipper Card and/or my bicycle.

I am home. Traffic is grisly today, as it always is when the President's in town to address the U.N. The bus ride took forever.

DR elmore - And that's why I always make sure to stay underground when the U.N. is in session. I hope you don't have to deal any "surprise" street closures during this session.

Beautiful picture of the Golden GAte Bridge...

Thank You, DR DakotaCelt.

It actually took me a while to get to the Bridge since I kept stopping to take pictures. Yes, it was a bit foggy and cloudy, but it was still a great day for a bike ride across and back. Once I was on the Bridge, I just kept going, but I did stop a few times on the way back to take a couple of pics while on the bridge span.

And...

When I was at Vista Point on the other side of the Bridge, I got a text from an old friend of mine:

"Are you in San Francisco?"
-Yes, I am. I'm here on vacation.
"At the Golden Gate Bridge?"
-Yes, I am! And I'm about to bike back across the bridge before they close down the east side.
"You just passed me in the parking lot!"
-WHAT?!?!?!

Well... I did a loop around the parking area, and, lo and behold, there was my friend Jay! I thought he had just seen the pics I posted on Facebook, but it turned out he had actually just seen me. He used to live in Virginia, and he's currently based out of Reno and works for a tour company. Turns out he was leading a group of English tourists across the Golden Gate Bridge. He had dropped them off on the San Francisco side so that they could walk across, and he was waiting for them at Vista Point.

I could not stop laughing at the total randomness of the situation. We chatted for a bit, and I'm going to meet him later for a drink to catch up some more after he's done with his tour duties for the day.
