...two tapes of shows that I don't think are commercially available (correct me if I'm wrong):
Herringbone, the one-man musical by Skip Kennon and Ellen Fitzhugh
Spilt Milk - the only musical comedy cabaret revue The New Yorker singled out for praise in 1993.

Miss a chance to correct you? Never 8)

Playwright Horizons seems to offer a tape for sale:

Quote
HERRINGBONE
Book by Tom Cone, music by Walter Edgar Kennon,
lyrics by Ellen Fitzhugh

"...It's billed as a vaudevillian song-and-dance show.... That description doesn't begin to scratch the surface of this wonderfully bizarre show.... Ellen Fitzhugh's lyrics may be the most clever I've ever heard.... Writer Tom Cone sends us soaring through the far reaches of the imagination.... HERRINGBONE combines the black comedy of Trevor Griffiths' COMEDIANS, the psychological suspense of EQUUS, the charm of a tall tale and the looneyness of Bullwinkle. In brief, it is an hilariously grisly tale of frog-monic possession told in song and dance. It is a one-man-show the likes of which you've never seen...."

Scott Fosdick,The Daily Herald

·   Instrumentation: Piano, bass, percussion & vocal
·   One actor, one pianist/actor
·   Cassette tape $9.95

(I say "seems to " because you have to send them an Email to order anything.)

An why is it billed as a "one-man show" when it has a cast of two?

The Lortel billed it thusly:

Quote

Opening Night Cast:

Actors

Name                             Role
Skip Kennon      Thumbs DuBois
David Rounds      Herringbone

Only reference to "Spilt Milk" I can find is a 1993 Album by Jelly fish and a comedy improv group.

I looked at the envelope the invitation came in, and it had my last name first with no comma. So I asked the hapless man to look under "ANNA"...and...."There you are!"

Try going through life with three first names:

Bruce William Albert

Drill Instructor, "Sound Off - Last Names"

Me: "Albert"

DI: "I said LAST name" - Sound Off!

Me: Albert, sir"

DI: Are you deaf, sailor?

(you know the rest)

Of course, in Hungarian the last name DOES come first. Thus Liszt Ferenc, Bartok Bela, Kodaly Zoltan, Albert Bruce William.

Had a nice luncheon date with George (from South Beach). He came up to Salem to have his car serviced. We went for a nice breakfast meal at Elmer's (me: spinach mushroom olmlette. George: potatoe pancakes). Then we went to a great estate sale in a huge old house on Summer street downtown. Tons of stuff dating back to the 50s...much of it...toys, clothes, odds n' ends still in the original packages! Didn't buy anything but it was fun to look.

I am so looking forward to our HHW gathering in Portland, Oregon!!

That's not quite the case.  Cole's P.E. Buffet is the other restaurant that claims invention of the sandwich.  "P.E." stands for "Pacific Electric" and the restaurant is housed in the Pacific Electric Building, which at one time was the terminus for Los Angeles' long-gone red streetcars.
This sounds like a Who Framed Roger Rabbit reference!

Well, I don't know what that is.   ;)
It's French.  (An Addams Family reference.)

Jane - not about the August 21st date, but we have often spoken of going to a HHW gathering if we were able, and I'm fairly certain that he has nothing going on the weekend of the 21st, so I'd say I'm 99% certain we can count him in :)

Don't see any reason at the moment why I wouldn't be there!

MBarnum when we lived in Michigan my friend started me going to estate sales with her.  We had such fun.  I don’t enjoy going to them alone.

I just used a drive-through ATM at my bank and noticed something incredibly curious.  At this drive-through ATM are user aids in Braille.

I can go one better. On the toll booths on the Florida Turnpike if you want a receipt you can get a receipt. The instructions are also in braille!!

The lovely and talented Jane sent me an IM about the impending Portland gathering.  I am just so busy now I don't have the time I usually do to post here, but if any/all want to connect with me up here, please feel free to email me at:

jmkauffman@aol.com

We would be happy to put up as many of you as we can in our beautiful home in the west hills.  You must not be kid or dog phobic, however.  :)  We do have lots of room, though.

Question, when paypal sends a real message, do they use https:// in their link?

I am so confused.  I get so many fakes that I can't even remember what is real anymore.

Thanks.

I was about to boo-boo.

I thought the Stargate SG1 opener tonight was from 8 to 10 pm (EST), which would NOT conflict with Monk.

Wrong.  From 8 to 9 is the (lame) From Stargate to Atlantis, which really is about nothing.  The Stargate opener is from 9 to 11.

I guess der Brucer will have to tape Monk, or watch it some other time.

P.S.  Just took a mo to peruse today's posts--if any/all of you are coming up here by Saturday, August 21, you can hear a somewhat diminished (little musical pun there for ya) Tigard Pops concert at the grand opening of the incredible new Tigard Library.  We are the featured performers and will be there from 10:00 a.m. until noon.  Normally for our regular concert season the Pops is comprised of between 40-60 voices.  It being summer and all, we get about 15-25 people for these particular concerts, but it should still be a great time.  Plus, loads of dignitaries will be there, including supposedly some Senators and Representatives.

I just changed MONK to record tomorrow morning and STARGATE to record at six tonight.  That way I can watch STARGATE earlier this evening.  TIVO makes it very simple to see when the shows will be on again and to record them.
