Hello.  I'm back from Chicago just in time for the big storm.  I was actually going to go to NYC tomorrow to see a certain singer at "54 Below," but I changed my flight and flew directly to DC.   It turns out that Mr. Barrett's  concert has been cancelled after all.

The federal government has already announced it's shutting down tomorrow (in the DC area).

One of the great advantages of not being wealthy is that I l cannot afford to live on one of the shorelines so I am in the middle of the Island -  some of the southern shore towns ans villages are already experiencing flooding due to higher than usual  high tides -  and the storms have not even begun yet

Guess I'd better go out and get some supplies!  The news people make it sound like it's inevitable that the power will go out.  Ugh!

sorry I have been busy the past few days

I kept coming i to to check in but been so tired that I kept dozing off while I was reading

Forget reading the next couple of days.  We just want to know how you are.  Is your office closed tomorrow?

I just hope we don't lose  electricity for a week again

with Irene at least it was summer so the days were longer and it was warmer  - no electric with short days and lower temperatures will not be fun

Saw Ms. Streisand Friday night at the United Center in Chicago.  Great show!  She's changing the song lineup from city to city. She opened with "On a Clear Day," --it was the first time she sang that song during this tour.

I hope your boss's trip was planned prior to knowing about Sandy.  If the closings are canceled then you can go home?

Apparently Con Edison is shutting down steam service tonight which means no heat or hot water.  It is a precaution as
cold flood water on steam pipes can damage the system.

I could have sworn that everything I've read heretofore said the storm was coming today.  What, did they realize that wasn't happening and then change their predictions, or did I just mis-read it?

Back from doing the video check at The Federal - they have a great system for image and sound and their screen is, in fact, shaped at 16x9.

Then I visited Druxy for a while.  I think he said this was a disappointing show for him.  I talked to actor Joe Turkel for a little while and gave him a Boy and the Pirates CD.

They have been tracking it.  Originally I read beginning Sunday or just before Halloween.  It kind of confused me.

Tonight is football and hotdogs with the boyfriend and his 2 kids.

Last night was football in Santa Barbara, their team lost.

The drive home from Santa Barbara is really nice.

I would really really like that.

That is a very pretty stretch.

Sorry they lost but it sounds like you had a nice time.

Good.  Do I remember correctly that you have a sump pump in your basement?  Will it work without electricity?

they were forecasting it hitting late tonight -  but they think the worst of it will be tomorrow -  they are suggesting  the storm will last for 36 hours

DR Cilla I'm glad Boo isn't limping anymore.

Thanks Me too.   Today I was talking to a lady in band who used to show cats.  She told me my vet is the worst in town, lol.  I haven't had any problems with her, but actually have considered changing to a vet closer to home.  She knew about a vet who is great with cats and fairly close to my house, so I'm considering changing.   It also turns out that her cousin is the head of animal control for the city.  She said she may know someone who would like to make some extra cash sitting.  And she said she may know someone.  She's going to get back to me.   At least there are some leads now

Discovered this morning that the cat sitter ran the washer and dryer.  I can't figure out what she washed and dried unless it was the towels she certainly didn't wash my clothes.   i can tell because she used different settings than i use.  Bizarre

Chances are she washed her own clothes.

No, I don't think so, she only lives about 10 blocks from here and has her own washer and dryer in her house.  She lives in a cool old house. I think she washed the towels she stacked down the basement, but from the lint trap on the dryer it was more than that.  I keep wondering if something happened and made a big mess so she cleaned it up
