One hears such conflicting reports.  I have to stop even looking at Facebook, for as irritating as the political posts have been, these jokers who keep posting the same fake photos are really beginning to piss me off.  Why do reasonably intelligent people do this?

And why does anyone forward those kinds of photos or posts for that matter without checking them out first.  When I said the power was out in New York City that was based on coverage on my local news program showing a whole bank of skyscrapers that were dark.  And then the newscaster said that NYC had apparently gone dark.

There was a pounding on our door acouple of hours ago and it was oneof our neighbors  shouting about embers onthe roof

we ran out to see that the tree across the street had tangled in the power lines and started to catch fire - the firey embers were blowing towards our house and landing on our roof

fortunately the house DID NOT catch fire

the wire fell in the street and began sparking  and flaming and making loud banging noises -  we called the fire dept and  the power went out and a  cop showed up

he closed off the street with some yellow hazard tape  and sat there until the power company must have shut down the transformer (remotely) because the sparking flaming and banging stopped

but no power truck showed up nor any fire truck

That is scary!

Worst weather I was ever in would be a couple different blizzards, one in about 1978 one earlier, can't remember the year.  School was out for over a week.   I was in a tornado once, but the damage wasn't close to us, and I was only 8 years old, so while I remember it, I would only rank it as number 3

Even though Sandy is supposed to be fairly bad in various parts of Canada, it is not supposed to be bad here.  Only thing is the winds are really bad. But nothing like others are experiencing.
