I was just chatting on FB with my "Irene" friend. Someone actually asked if her daughter was home. Her response cracked me up, "Of course she is home, this is a major storm". It seems the woman who asked didn't keep her children home today.

We still have power in Chelsea. It's not hit us hard yet. They keep talking about 8pm but as far as I know most of Manhattan still has power. It's the outer boroughs and Long Island and New Jersey that are being hit hardest.

Yes, it's very odd that a facade of a building would fall off (makes you wonder what that facade was/is made of, while no one else is reporting any problems at all in Manhattan. Weird.

I don't know that someone recently said that, but John McCain did an entire skit on SNL a few years ago with that theme. I'm assuming that some people still have that attitude.

Ben, I couldn't find news of a complete blackout & obviously there wasn't. I hope it stays that way. My niece is on W. 12th Street. What area is that?

After I turned off the computer, there were no more power problems. Then, as soon as I turned it back on, the lights began flickering again!

One hears such conflicting reports. I have to stop even looking at Facebook, for as irritating as the political posts have been, these jokers who keep posting the same fake photos are really beginning to piss me off. Why do reasonably intelligent people do this?
