Right now i am eating a candy apple that my niece's got from their neighbor. I can't believe anyone would give a candy apple? But i guess this lady would know most of the kids coming to her (she lives 3 doors down from my nieces).

I love candy apples. But oddly this one is not that sweet. I've never tried one that was caramel or that sweet red stuff. I"m still eating it.

My nieces went with my 3 year old niece's best friend.

Watching 2 three year olds is embarrassing. The boy kept asking for money (my other niece was collecting for the children's hospital). And my niece (3) kept asking for Smarties and asking for more candy. I kept having to say I was sorry.

She probably only gives the special treat to the children she knows. Even when I was young & we could expect anything some neighbors had special homemade treats for "special" children.

I hate that i can't take a picture of myself. I hate the way most people take pictures. So not even sure if i got one of my costume. I don't understand why people can't look in the camera shot to see if the picture is any good before snapping.

I think i can got some decent shots outside.

The weather here was awful for Trick or Treat, cold & drizzly. We had a few groups of kids, but most of them were being driven around by their parents. Lots of older kids, especially at the end of the time period.

This one family we know had a bunch of people outside scaring the kids. The mom was dressed up as a bride hanging from a tree. There was someone else popping out of a costume. Really cute.

The worst thing for me if there was no power would be I have a ton of food in my freezer.

One lady told my 3 year old niece she could take as much candy as she wanted. AND my niece helped herself 4 times.

Then another time a lady tried to stick chips in her bag. And my niece took them out and was about to give them back.

Her little boyfriend asked for money at least 4 times. His parents kept sending him up to the door alone. I went up with my niece so she wouldn't fall down the stairs. Or say/do anything worse than she was doing.

When i came home i saw someone driving kids around?? Who does that on a nice night. And it was 9pm. Who goes out that late?

Eat the ice cream first, like in JURASSIC PARK, then fire up the grill and cook all of the meat. That's what we did when Hurricane Ike visited SW Ohio in 2008.

Only two trick or treaters so far - I'm sure the onslaught will happen soon, but as always happens, a lot of people pass the house, even though it's well lit up outside.

We had a hard time deciding which houses to go to. Our rule was it had to have lights on and some type of Halloween decoration/pumpkin/or door open.

And they got lots of candy. There were tons of peanut M&Ms. But no reese's peanut butter cups or reese's pieces.

Lots of smarties (that is like M&Ms).Lots of chips.

I think at three years old you should go up with them. I can't ever remember being embarrassed by my children when T or Ting. Sorry

I quickly had to replace four of the light bulbs in the lamps at the front of the house and by the front door - it's really bright out there now. No Halloween decorations, though, save for myself.

Lights on is an absolute rule. I suppose decorations reduces the number of homes, which at their age can be good.

As I've watched the Hurricane Sandy coverage, I've wondered about Ocean Grove, NJ, the delightful shore town where Richard, Rob, and I spent a week in 1999. Tonight I found a blog with lots of information and pictures:

If we did that we would let in a lot of cold air. Still, it is something to consider.

There is a way to install a connection thru the wall of the house and the outside. Then you just plug the generator into the outside of the connecter and the power cord to the inside to plug in your applicances. This is probably not the time of year to install it, but you might consider it for next winter.

I guess I am confused, Jennifer. If this isn't a caramel apple or a red candy one; then what kind of candy apple is it that you are eating?
