It's a rainy morning here in Central California, but that will not deter me from going to breakfast with some friends & acquaintances. One of my dearest pals plays piano there on Saturday mornings, & we have planned to dress up to eat there while he tickles the ivories.

Off to a book signing at a farmers market this morning in conjunction with the best of the independent bookstores in town. Looking forward to this.

I also have LifeLock.

Thankfully, no incidents with my credit cards yet, but I do get regular notices about sexual predators in my area.

The best thing about the Paypal debit card, which is the ONLY card I use (if I used the debit card attached to the Kritzerland bank account, I would never have any way of knowing what was what unless they caught it), is that when I make a charge somewhere an instant e-mail shows up noting the charge.  And I look at every single one of those e-mails every day.  Also, I know my Paypal balance every day so it's all very easy to spot.  But the stupid thing on these people's parts is either giving or selling the number to people out of town - if the card company suddenly sees charges being made in LA and NY at the exact same time it's a dead giveaway.

TOD

I had my credit card cloned about 10 years ago. The fraud section of my bank had spotted some unusual and expensive purchases and asked if I had used the card for them. One of the amounts was the equivalent of about $1000 for the purchase of shoes in a shop in Rome. I was sure that the card details could only have been taken a few days earlier when I was in a restaurant in Lisbon and the waiter had taken the card from me to process it. Those were in the days before we had PIN numbers in the UK. No-one would ever take a card away from a customer nowadays but it was common in restaurants at that time when a card had to go through a machine.

And I am home.  So far,it's been a quiet peaceful day and I plan to keep it that way.  I have a bit of composing for my own amusement, and a lot of DVDs I can watch.

I woke up early today, did a little shopping and now am waiting to go to the matinee to see Lincoln.   I'm thinking about stopping by the Hostess outlet store to see if there is anything left. They found out yesterday that Monday is their last day and then they are out of work and the store is closed.

I love zingers and used to eat lots of Hostess Cupcakes.  I was never a Twinkie fan, but still.  And I grew up on Wonder Bread.  I don't buy it now, but am sorry it will be gone

Back from filing the police report - I'll check back in a week to see what's happened.  They have copies of all the info they need.  I then went and had a sandwich and sweet potato fries, and I'll go over to the mail place shortly where I will hopefully pick up some packages and an important envelope.

The Hostess outlet store had a big line and many many empty shelves.  I got some vanilla zingers, some bread crumbs and even a fruit cake. I got some chocolate zingers and cupcakes at the neighborhood convenience store.   I'm going to give the Zingers to friends and take them home for Thanksgiving, lol

There was not a twinkie to be found anywhere.  My friends have been posting that they've gone to WalMart and Target looking for them and they are sold out.  Kind of funny, I bet none of them would have looked for them if they weren't going to be no more

I was pretty sure I'd heard the title song at the recording session, and it was worth going back and finding the post:

I spent five -- count'em -- five hours there today, and here's what I can tell you:  this is already an album I want to put on repeat play.  Lanny's arrangements are wonderful and the 20-piece orchestra blew me away.  Or maybe the orchestra was wonderful and Lanny's arrangements blew me away.  One of those.  I also happen to think the East Coast Singer is sounding luscious on these songs.

It was especially gratifying to walk in as they were doing BK's own number, because it's a beaut.

Well damn, now I really want to hear it.  Thanksgiving is my traditional first day for enjoying holiday music and movies so I'm holding off till then, but this will be the first thing on the player.

John, which bookstore?

The Twig in San Antonio. We sold about 15 copies in a couple of hours. Not bad. Not great. BUt the day was perfect. Sunny and in the mid-60s. Light breeze.

Picked up some packages and an important envelope then did some banking.  It's been drizzling all day.  I just wish it would rain already - a day of that would do wonders for this city.

Raw Tracks

Wasn't that a Burt Reynolds movie back in the 1980's?
