Finished with Skyfall, which is indeed close to two hours and twenty minutes. Reading comments on the imdb is fascinating - the alternate between one star and ten stars - literally every other comment. I do like the little twerps who talk all about how it's not really a Bond film when they cite the Craig version of Casino Royale as a perfect Bond film. Casino Royale may be many things, none of which were to my liking, but a classic Bond film? No. So, for me Skyfall is a curio because clearly they are attempting to bring some fun back into it and that part succeeded. Finally some Bondian quips. In the best moment of the film, Bond's Aston Martin makes an appearance, along with the Bond theme. The villain is actually colorful. The plot? Standard. The direction? For this kind of film, very good - no shaky cam - not one shot. I'd nominate Sam Mendes for best director for that alone. Yes, it's too much an action picture. People seem to think that's what Bond has always been about, but a simple viewing of any of the Connery films will tell you otherwise, especially the first three. Yes, there are always one or two sequences, but they were never relentless like the later films and especially like the redo of Casino Royale, which I find dreary and dank and unappealing.
