SCREENERS
« on: December 10, 2012, 12:03:51 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of screeners, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently watching some screeners of this year's MOOvies.

I don't like Daniel Craig as James Bond but I've been thinking of seeing SKYFALL this week before it disappears from the big screen. I don't know if I'll manage it though because I feel as if I'm coming down with a cold  >:(

Watched the latest Outside Box and really enjoyed it, but I think it could have done without the leper musical number. Maybe because it didn't have Kevin Symons or Damon Kirsche. But I see that other people enjoyed it. I guess that's what makes chariot races.

Good morning, all! I didn't get to bed before midnight, so I forced myself to start moving around 6:45, hoping that I can get back to my usual sleeping pattern. We'll see.

I'm on my first cup of coffee, and not quite awake. I'd like to get to Toyland relatively early, so I can head back uptown around 1pm, and I will spend the afternoon making chicken soup.

First thing, the market. I am out of milk.

Good morning, all.

Well, the storms came in and the headache went, for which I am grateful. It has dropped at least 40 degrees out there, but I doubt it's cold enough to freeze.

It's grey and drizzly but it may get up to 62 degrees or higher today.

TOD:

I haven't been to too many movies this year. But the only one I have thoroughly enjoyed was "Bernie," a very Texas movie and a hoot. The scenes of Jack Black singing numbers from "Music Man" and "Guys and Dolls" were worth the price of admission alone.

Good morning, all.

Coffee!

Actually, make that:  Instant coffee!

Don't ask why.  Okay, I'll tell you.  The Mr. Coffee I purchased at Costco two weeks ago was a Piece of Shit, never mind the details.  I returned it yesterday but was not in the mood to select another, so that shall be taken care of today.

Oy, what a day I have today.

No.  Make that:  Oy, what a week I have this week.

As I have done a couple of times in the past at this time of year, I'm helping out a dear friend who is music director of a large high school, by stepping in as accompanist and pit pianist for concerts here and there, and there's one during the day today.

Then this evening, auditions for ADRIFT in McCOW.  I've always been a fairly decent sightreader, but I am no DR JoseSPiano, no sirree, so I find the playing of auditions akin to being an air traffic controller:  long stretches of boredom punctuated by moments of sheer terror.

And I would like to add:

It dawned on me what scene I would have like to seen as the last scene in the musical version of Ben-Hur. Instead of the leper number it could have been the deathbed scene of Masala with Judah by his side.

DR Mike:  Always interesting to hear where and how people sell stuff.  I presume you were referring to the Swap Shop at the old Thunderbird Drive-In in Fort Lauderdale?  I was visiting there about a decade ago and couldn't resist spending a Sunday morning seeing that.  It's rather mind boggling, and quite the phenomenon.

I can only wish I'd be wandering through a jernt like that when somebody has, oh, let's say, a great collection of DVDs, etc., up for sale!
