We actually postponed the party this year -  one of the other women lf privately prevailed upon the boss to do an  after holiday party  to cheer up the January doldrums.    January is actually usually a slower time for us and  right before the holidays we are crazy busy at work and then trying to take care of holiday stuff in  the limited time available to us we really resent having forced frivolity -- the boss privately asked my opinion and I agreed wholeheartedly -

Sounds like a much better idea.  Will you propose changing the gift exchange to make it more fun?

 If the gift thing comes up next year I think I might propose George's idea -  I kind of like the idea that the exchange takes place BEFORE the gift is opened unlike the stealing game  and also that the exchange seems to be voluntary rather than "snatched" like the stealing game -  and  (as I mentioned before) if you are sneaky you could buy something you like and if you play your exchanges right  might be able to go home with it yourself without anyone being the wiser!!       ;D ;D

I took the evening off and watched TV with Richard.  Also started knitting a baby blanket for our new great-niece Rachel.  It won't be finished by the time we meet her Sunday, but I've thought of a cute way to let her Mom know it's in progress.

I guess I'll have to wait till I can watch it without dozing off, but I just got my first look at HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN since I was a young 'un.  I remembered it in only the vaguest sense.  Can't remember how I saw it back in the day, but probably on black-and-white television.
