DR Cillaliz, I didn't want to be a downer earlier, but wanted to tell you not to be surprised to be blindsided by these kind of feelings later.  In December of 2000 I applied for, and didn't get, a branch manager position.  Thought I was fine with it until spring of the following year when I was passed over for a position I really didn't want, but at that time I mourned heavily over the branch manager position.

Be kind to yourself and enjoy your vacation!

Oh, I knew I was putting on a brave face for part of the day. I wanted to personally tell the people who supported me so I did that.  I knew once the day was over, my brave face would give way.

I also must admit I was kind of pleased to hear that lots of lawyers are really upset that she is the new judge.  A lot of people said she was impossible to work with as a lawyer and they can't believe that she got the job.  Catty I know, but sometimes catty feels good

Ok, I'm off to visit the new coffee house/bar/art space/music venue that a friend opened a couple weeks ago.  Tomorrow I have two parties to go to so I'll be seeing lots of people.  It should be a good time.

Thanks for all your support today.   The funny thing is it really is for the best. I just don't like the way it happened.

At least you had time for your first reaction before hearing why you didn't get it.

Well, I don't really know why I didn't get it. I've heard a couple different things, but that's really irrelevant.  The fact is I didn't.  I do really believe it's for the best and I'll be fine with it as soon as I get done being ticked off  :)

True you don't really know, only what was mentioned.   It was enough though to tick you off ;)

With everything that disappoints there is a normal emotional process to go through & that is ok.  I have no doubt you will be fine.  It is always nice to have a place to vent express your feelings.  :)

Groan, it is snowing again.  This morning we walked down to the mailbox with shovel in tow.  Keith did more of the road this time, completely shoveling one tire track for the car, and then we drove the car on the road twice.  The first time for a trip to the market & then Keith went back down to get the mail.

FILE - In this Nov. 11, 2012 file photo, debris is scattered about the neighborhood the day after two homes were leveled and numerous neighboring homes were damaged from a massive explosion that sparked a huge fire and killed two people in Indianapolis. Nearly three dozen homes were damaged or destroyed, and seven people were taken to a hospital with injuries. Prosecutors have charged a homeowner, her boyfriend and his brother with murder after causing the massive house explosion. (AP Photo/The Indianapolis Star, Matt Kryger, File).

I hadn't seen any pictures of what actually happened.

TOD:

CD:

I am hooked on a new favorite singer by the name of Victor Turpin. He is from Columbia and now resides in Los Angeles. He is also a budding actor (he was the guy in that St. Patrick's Day clip I posted yesterday). I have been playing his CD everyday for the last week. He has the kind of deep singing voice that I love.

This guy must have had Vixmom do his website.  I tried reading his bio, and I couldn't understand one word!

After reading how it was set no wonder so much damage was done. :(

Sorry!

I don't get why you didn't get the job if you were their first choice. That doesn't make much sense.

At least if you knew you were the second choice it would make more sense.

Hopefully you get a better explanation.

But at least now you and Edith can do more great work. And knowing you were the first choice should make you feel great. They loved you!

I went over to my sister's house earlier so I could watch the finale of Dexter. And I had to pick up my niece from school/daycare after school. Only as I was turning onto my sister's street did I realize I didn't bring my purse. Just put all my stuff into a bag with a zipper. I had everything but the little purse with the key to my sister's house. :(

Luckily there was a spare key I could pick up only 7 minutes away. But it still added 20 minutes.

And the weather wasn't too great today. Although it was much better than what they had been expecting.

It snowed overnight and during the morning. They rained all afternoon/evening. So the roads were clear of snow. Just wet. Hopefully all that water will melt with salt and not freeze.

DR Jennifer it is called the Buddy system.  The lead person had a friend.......  She must have had some qualifications that made it more difficult to refuse her.  To really understand DR Cilla needs a transcript of the conversations. ;)

Will you be keeping the key on your key chain from now on?

How far away from your sister do you live?  I can't remember.

Off to the theater!  Also, it's the beginning of a 4-day weekend!  We get Monday off from work, as well as Tuesday. :D

Until later!

DR ELMORE did you know Schorling Schneider an actor who lived in NYC for many years.....he was also an AIDS activist particularly with Equity.....

No, DR JRand62, I didn't.  I had several friends from the Book Shop and Men's Chorus who were heavily involved with ACT UP.  I have a memory of talking on the phone to Spencer around 1990-1992, when I learned that he was positive - someone from the Book Shop might have told me - but we lost touch after that, and I had honestly thought for the past 10 years or so that he had died.

After a while, you just assume that someone you knew was positive has passed on if a space of time has gone when you hear nothing from them, although in Spencer's case, if I had been au courant on the AIDS issue, I would have known he was still around.  Between 1982 and 2012, I've lost too many friends to that damned plague. We living must tell their stories, sing their praises, and insure that they are not forgotten or overlooked.

My deepest sympathies, elmore.  I, too, lost a great many wonderful and talented friends.

TOD:

CD - THIS CHRISTMAS, CHRISTMAS COCKTAILS Vol. 3, a HOLIDAY INN soundtrack that I think came with the DVD, which seems to have an alternate take or two, and I just got to CAREER (great score!!! -- I'm sorry to say I've never seen the movie).

DVD & BLU holiday stuff - WHITE CHRISTMAS, A CHRISTMAS STORY (and the documentary ROAD TRIP FOR RALPHIE), NATIONAL LAMPOON'S CHRISTMAS VACATION, SANTA CLAUS (the 1959 Mexican film that everyone but me has seen), and the recently acquired BING CROSBY and BELL TELEHPONE HOUR specials.

BLU - BELOVED INFIDEL and HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN.

I have never heard of the 1959 Mexican movie, SANTA CLAUS.

Wow, DR TCB, even as a kid you never saw this kooky classic? Well, this trailer will give you an idea of what you have missed....or not.

I just watched the trailer, and I now remember seeing the previews at my local theatre when I was a kid.  None of my friends or I had any desire to go back the next Saturday for the matinee,  I think we opted to go to whatever movie they were showing on Friday night.

I have not seen this classic either, but I do love that eyeball that looks like a martini olive.

A martini olive (and the martini) could only improve that movie!

Should I watch Life of Pi or the new Eyetalian Blu and Ray of the extended Once Upon a Time in America, which contains a little over twenty minutes of new footage, making the running time four hours and twenty minutes, I think - something like that.  I think we know Mr. Leone was smart enough to know his film could and should never be that long.  He knew he was pushing it at the almost four-hour mark.  Not every scene shot is meant to be in a film.

Nice photo DR JOHN G.

LOL DR GINNY - I think you should go to the party and make comments under your breath as the proceedings unfold.

Apparently, the party was today and one of my FB friends posted a photo.  I was not invited...

I was told by one of my former co-workers that no former employees were invited to the lunch -- and that included me.

Should I watch Life of Pi

I've read the quality of the 3D in this is excellent.  Might you prefer to see it at a 3D theater first?

ROCK OF AGES is opening at The Venetian in Las Vegas.  What a shame that this piece of crap is replacing a truly incredible production of PHANTOM.
