Back from Costco, on my first-ever run for K-Cups!  (Kirkland brand, breakfast blend, $38 for 100 -- a real bargain compared to the little 12-packs I've seen in other stores.)

Was Costco crazy?  I wouldn't want to go just before Christmas.  We will make our next trip after the 1st, mostly because that is when the coupon book begins & there a a couple of good coupons in it ;)

Also brought back a head of lettuce and a bottle of Thousand Island.  Time for sitting back and pigging out on an old-fashioned refreshing wedge salad as I settle into a movie (probably BELOVED INFIDEL).

I got there half an hour before they close, so got a parking space about 10 spaces from the front door, and experienced no crazies at all!  Just lucky timing.

Last night we intended to watch one of the movies we recorded during the day only to find out the snow on our satellite dish prevented anything from recording. :(

DR Jane:  I keep forgetting to ask, and just now remembered --

How long is all of that driveway?  Is there some reason you don't use a snow-blower or something to alleviate the need for shoveling those huge areas?

I think in these terms because my driveway is a horror in winter.  It's a couple of hundred feet long (don't know exactly), and hilly.  When we get any real snow covering, my neighbor very kindly plows the whole length of it.  I then run the snow-blower up and down once just to clean up where necessary, do the whole turnaround area at the house and garage, and that pretty much limits shoveling to just around the house.

Actually, I'm thinking it's more like 300 feet long.  I really should find out after all these years!

Catching up with the 2012 Michael Buble special.  The Bing Crosby duet is a strange use of technology.  It could have used more of a laugh track.  It makes Bing Crosby seem as if he's not a nice person.

The driveway is about 400 ft (top section flat, rest is a hill) and the road is a half mile.  Keith did 2 hours of shoveling because he shoveled single tracks for the car.  The snow was too slushy & would have clogged the blower.  The road, also a hill, has areas that get icy so it is best to shovel tracks and/or sections of the road to be safe.  We could wait it out but we get restless.  I don't shovel, except maybe the steps, or use the snow blower since my shoulder was messed up.

I don't really care about 3D movies - not in the past, not now.

Interesting the two houses we owned with very short driveways were in California homes that never saw snow.

Our driveway is short, but steep, and today it's a little icy.  That's why both of today's newspapers are still at the bottom.

Got it, DR Jane.  That all makes sense.  The slushiness is the worst thing to have to deal with when it comes to cleanup.  Heavy and horrible, nothing remotely fun about it.

Not that ice is any picnic!  But at least you can put sand and/or salt down and get moving on it soon enough.

Did a stupid thing tonight. Lost my work badge. I was unloading books in the car and I remember it getting in the way. The next thing I knew, the badge was gone. I drove back and looked around but couldn't find it. I think it's $100 to get it replaced, plus it'll be a headache trying to get on campus Monday morning.  >:(

Another downer: We ordered another case of books with two-day delivery and, two days later, the books didn't arrive. And we have a signing tomorrow with only about one case of books. Given the response this one is getting, I think we could have been able to sell an extra half case tomorrow. I've sold many this past week to people wanting last-minute gifts, and that's what several have mentioned they were planning to do tomorrow.

DR CILLA LIZ - I think you would find the press conference from the Marion County Prosecutor very interesting if it's online anywhere....I will look for it.....

The homeowner and her live in boyfriend have also been charged in conspiracy because they tried to do the same thing the weekend before.....but were unsuccessful.....

This link might work

I get it now, desperate for money.  They didn't plan to kill anyone.  Isn't that called manslaughter?

That's called stupidity.

Thank you. A rerun of "The Bishop's Wife" and some sort of cocktail will ease all woes.

Tomorrow is my last day at home to prepare for Christmas.  I have to decorate the shortbread cookies I baked today and deck the hall dining room for Christmas dinner.  I'm kind of looking forward to a little "vacation" before the holiday, even if it is just in Lima, OH.  The highlight will be taking Sunday dinner to great niece Rachel's family!

I also must admit I was kind of pleased to hear that lots of lawyers are really upset that she is the new judge.  A lot of people said she was impossible to work with as a lawyer and they can't believe that she got the job.  Catty I know, but sometimes catty feels good

Nothing wrong with catty.

That's good, TCB. Unless you were expecting the call before your surgery some months ago.
