DR Vixmom, I would email amazon and tell them to forward your message to a supervisor.

Explain how it is completely unacceptable for them to cancel your giftcard order without emailing you. It was obviously a xmas gift and they could easily have substitued the snowflakes.

Then explain how you re-ordered and you still did not get the item. Again tell them this is unacceptable.
Maybe they will compensate you.

As others have said you can email amazon giftcards. Or you can print out the information. But it seems like you want the actual card. I personally would see if you could print out the info for the one that is in transit.

And if you decide you don't need that one i would send it back. Demand that amazon take it back considering it will arrive after you need it.

TOD:

I had some lovely productions of my play, TARTUFFE, and some committments of some future theatrical productions.  I also expanded my theatre connections in the tri-state area with other professionals.  Had a lovely, but all-too-short trip to LA to see old chums, including BK!

Saturday morning greetings!  Easing into my last day of Christmas prep before we head to Lima tomorrow morning.  It's still very cold here, but the sun is trying to come out.

The best thing that happened for me in 2012 is that Obama got elected again.  I would hate to think of living under a Repressive Republican Regime Representing only the Rich and the Religious Right.

TOD: Some of the good things were:  [On balance, feels like more rem, ains going forward to 2013 to be hopeful about than I'd thought, even though the latter part of the year especially felt not so good]

-  completing writing a project based on a promise that it would be funded if I had a viable draft by a deadline, bad thing was losing work (and funding for the production of that particular project) as a direct result of the online "cyberfollowing" and its impact

-  Skip's having HERRINGBONE recorded was fun for the whole family, including Toby and Dylan (Skip is waiting for the recording to be finalized, but the event in May was a great success for all)

- a wonderful trip to L.A. in May

-  the continued community here, where no one seems to mind the need to come and go at times, and you all seem understanding when someone misses a few days

-  And a good thing is I've learned for the very first time in half a century what it means to be truly disappointed by some people, which is a good thing to remember for when times get better, that people who are there when things are good may not be there when things are less good, that one needs to be careful who one trusts (The phrase:  "Respect him and suspect him" sadly proves to be the case, maybe more about "her" in these cases.)

- and yes, MOST importantly, the election turning out the way it did.  I was very concerned about that for the rights that might have been curtailed had things turned out differently.  However I may feel about some tax issues like (for example) double taxation, where I have to admit I differ from the president and Warren Buffet but you can't have it all.

On balance, more good things in 2012 than I'd originally thought!  Not one of the better years, though.

This article appears in today's Cincinnati Enquirer.  The previous owners mentioned in the interview with the current owners were Richard's father's cousin Robin and her husband Bob.  They frequently hosted family gatherings and seeing these photos brings back great memories:

Absolutely!  The best thing also is that Willard Mitt Romney is not going to be POTUS.

BK,

I would be curious to hear what the additional footage in ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA consists of, so please report back.

It's one of my favorite films, though I am still not sure on the ending.

TOD - Sandwiched between the 2011 excitement of Rob & Mary Linda's wedding and our trip to France & Germany and the opening of 2013 with our trip to England, 2012 was kind of quiet.  One of my big highlights was being taken off Plavix in August, which indicates my reaching the 2-year survival point from my heart attack.

Lots of little travel experiences this year, but our only major trip was New York and Washington in May.  In addition to getting to visit with DRs Elmore, FJL, and Jose, we saw some great theatre:  HERRINGBONE, HARVEY, and ONCE in NYC and MUSIC MAN and THE TAMING OF THE SHREW in DC.

Greetings from Toyland!

I had meant to mention earlier that I saw the end of Michael Buble's Christmas special last night. That youbng man needs to get some lessons in diction. On my favorite Christmas song, I heard him sing:
Once again as in olden times, happy golden times of yore,
Faithful friends who are dear ta us
Will be near ta us once more.
Through the years we all will be together
If the fates allow,
Until then we'll hafta muddle through somehow,
So have yourself a merry little Christmas now.

Pathetic.

We watched KILLER JOE last night.

There are some difficult to watch sequences in this one, but it is one of the most clever and surprising black comedies I've seen in years.  Performances are excellent.

Gina Gershon's first appearance is certainly one for the books.

I only lasted through about 5 minutes of that program and turned it off.  Did he also commit one of my pet peeves:  "And tidings of comfErt and joy, comfErt and joy"?

Larry, did you catch the (I assume) unintentionally homo-erotic moments in Michael Buble's duet with Blake Shelton?

Also, I join those online who wonder why they left the "Parson Brown" section in WINTER WONDERLAND with Rod Stewart, if Buble was going to look a bit uncomfortable doing it.  They could have just done "circus clown" both times, couldn;t they have?

That moment is at about 0:50 to 0:55 here

if anyone's interested.

I wrote that I saw only the end of the program. Given his diction on "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," I wouldn't be surprised by any other sloppy diction.

DR VIX MOM too bad COPS wasn't filming in your neighborhood last night.....you could have been on TV.....but you would have to go in the house and put on your worst clothes and mess up your hair and be smoking a cigarette.

That's my normal modus operandi

So wonderful seeing you this year, and what great timing that you saw Skip's HERRINGBONE as one of the shows you saw in NYC.

The more I write about 2012, the better I feel about the year taken as a whole.  I revised my post (#37) about the TOD.  Much good happened in 2012, even though a lot more "bad" than I'm used to.
