Been thinking about this.  Following upon what DR Jennifer said, I also think what happened this time -- at least speaking for myself -- is that we're so accustomed to having the direct reminders and the link spoonfed to us (like the adorable little DR infants we are), that the mentions of it being shown at the Kritzerland show somehow made it seem as though it was being previewed for them; i.e., that they were seeing what was to be released to Broadway World the following week.

Or something!  Not making excuses.  But for what it's worth, that seems to have been my own lazy train of non-thinking thought.   :)

I also thought that the people at the Kritzerland show were getting a preview of the Outside the Box episode.

And for those forgetful dear readers, here is the direct link to the new Outside the Box episode:  http://broadwayworld.com/videoplay.php?colid=443461

I am curious what is the age demographic on broadwayworld?

This link has statistics on the readership of broadwayworld, toward the bottom of the page.

http://www.quantcast.com/broadwayworld.com

Thanks. So basically the huge bulk are 18-44 years old. But most are in younger demographics than even 35-44. That is what I was thinking.  To me there are a lot of older movies (like Sound of Music for example) that would be known no matter what your age.  But there are lots of iconic movies that most young people would just not be familiar with.

The comments at the end of the story are also worth reading, especially for the lone naysayer, a type of theatergoer that I'm getting very tired of.

I read LAST TRAIN TO MEMPHIS last week and today finished reading the second volume of the Elvis Presley biography this one titled CARELESS LOVE.

Not exhaustive, but very good.  Since finishing the books, I went to purchase DVD copies of the Elvis documentaries THIS IS ELVIS, ELVIS ON TOUR, and THIS IS HOW IT IS about the Elvis' Vegas opening in the 1970's......haven't seen any of them for many many years.

DR JANE I find it ironic that so few of Ray Bradbury's books are unavailable in the latest format.

A bit of Texas slang that I learned today:

Texan Slang: You can put your boots in the oven, but that don't make 'em biscuits.

(Translation: You can say whatever you want about something, but that doesn't change what it is.)

So, here's a wonderful theater story/review of what I like to call Jose's My Fair Lady:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/my-fair-lady-replacement-shines-at-arena-stage-in-an-unforgettable-evening/2013/01/06/af6b845e-5825-11e2-beee-6e38f5215402_story.html?hpid=z12

I saw this too, DRJohnG.  I had meant to see My Fair Lady and tried to get a ticket for Sunday's matinee, but it was sold out.  I guess that was for the best since  I read today that "Liza" got sick during "Wouldn't it Be Loverly" and the show was cancelled!

It is 6:20pm and there is still no mail delivery today. The stupid woman taking the route today is moving very slowlyand she most likely won't hit this side of the street until probably after 7:00.  The post office claims it's in financial trouble; perhaps it's from paying overtime to incompetent postal workers. This is ridiculous.

The mail arrived about 10 minutes ago.

Has anyone seen these dreadful Real Estate commercials composer Mitch Leigh (Man of La Mancha) is promoting? They are what one could call disgusting.

Those Mitch Leigh commercials must be local.

But am I sick of the "Weight Watchers" commercials with Jennifer Hudson?

why is it I find so much current popular song, as well as jingles written for commercials, to be so unmelodic and performed so many offpitch singers? BK's episodes are full of melody and good musical theatre performances. What is the problem with these morns preferring limited ranges, limited tunes, and often very limited performances?

In that vein, it is so nice to be learning BARNUM, with real music, real melody and orchestration, and real

(wait for it)

RIDEOUTS!   :)

The greatest thing I remember about BARNUM, and it has been over 30 years; was the absolute joy of Jim Dale, Glenn Close, and every single person involved with that show.

RE: posting the link for Outside the Box

I do think that posting the link will get more people here to view it right away.  And also mentioning when it goes up.

Truthfully I must have missed the mentions in the notes. Because last night when it was asked why no DRS had watched the new episode I didn't even realize the new episode had gone up.  So I definitely think it helps to give the link once the episode is up (since i don't visit broadwayworld and maybe other DRs don't either and might forget to check for new episodes).

I also must have missed it in the notes, because I had no idea that it was an OUTSIDE THE BOX Sunday.

Re the Outside the Box comments today, which I'm enjoying.  Even though some of them are indeed more outrageous than others, my intention always is to write them as if I were really writing a musical of the source material.  Some lend themselves to more outrageous treatment (The Miracle Worker, Ben-Hur) and some don't (the current episode) - but it's almost the ones that don't that make me happiest, and seeing the new episode with the audience last night was fantastic.  The set-up scene got great laughs, as did the first two numbers.  The final song really only has three laughs and they're not huge - the accompaniment, and the two references to Chinese food, but a friend at the next table leaned over to me after the final song and said, "That's such a good song!" and that, for me, means I succeeded in my goal.

And so far, only Peter Filichia, who sent me a really nice note about the episode (he really liked it a lot) noticed the very intention reference in the first number to the opening number of Merlin :)

I agree with your friend at the table.  I loved the  last number.  I had to listen to it again.

DR JANE I find it ironic that so few of Ray Bradbury's books are unavailable in the latest format.

Especially considering there are multiple study guides.  Keith kept suggesting I simply read of of them.  I glad I read the little paperback instead.

Hi - we're back from Disneyland.  bk, I waved to you as we went through Burbank on the I-5 both down and back.  No one killed anyone, were all alive.  I'll spare you all the gory details, but we had a great time.  The new addition to Disney California Adventure was amazingly done.  Beautiful artwork, wonderful use of space and technology.  A+  from me.

I'll do my best to catch up!

I've been following a story on facebook which I shared for my Portland friends.  Saturday night a women went into a restaurant for dinner leaving her little dog in a crate in her car.  Unfortunately another car, a suspected drunk driver, crashed into her parked car and split.  Looking at a photo of the car she is lucky her dog survived (thinking of you DR Cilla).  The crate popped open and the dog ran away prompting a major search for him.  His story was on the news & was shared on FB and today he was found.  He is limping but otherwise fine.
