My phone (and broadband) was down this morning. The phone company said there was a problem at the exchange. It took about 4 hours for the line to come back on. I wonder if the exchange problem is connected with the intermittent problem I've been having over the past two weeks with my broadband connection.

"Can-Can" returns. I love much of this score. Hope the new book actually showcases it properly:

The "kooky" girl persona of the 1950's that several actresses adopted was too much for me and Shirley was the "kookiest".....so I like the idea of Shirley MacLaine more than the actuality of her.

However I do like several of her performances, most already mentioned:

I Love Paris, C'est Magnifique and It's All Right With Me were probably the biggest hits, but I Am in Love is one of those gorgeous Porter songs of pure purple passion ("For I am wildly in love with you/And so in need of a stampede of love.") Allez-Vous En, the title song and the ballets all have good music and some fun lyrics.

Thursday evening greetings!

Great photo, Doug R. Thanks for sharing. Hope it was a fun get-together.

It was indeed John. Ginny and Richard are a lovely couple.

We so appreciated the effort DR Doug R made to visit us in the pub on the ground floor of our hotel!  I sure hope he doesn't come down with the class cold.  It hit me hard last night and today I've had no voice at all.

Where is everybody today?

Richard and I were touring Westminster Abbey, visiting some shops in the area, and touring the Churchill War Rooms.  A lovely way to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary!

Interesting about Can Can, this revision of which I saw in Pasadena in 2007.  Lots of announcements like these are made every year - whether it comes to fruition is another story.  I believe Broadway is still waiting for Ray, another Playhouse production from years ago, which seems to be announced for Broadway every single year.

JohnG, I suppose you could be right about Shirley MacLaine, and frankly it may just be in the writing, since her little quips are very similar to Maggie Smith's little quips - she may be purposely choosing to play against them so she's not like a clone.

So, DR Matthew and I are both playing in high school shows?  We're either nuts or having fun or just making a few bucks, not sure which.

Now I'm curious about this LEGALLY BLONDE score.  But this is no time to investigate.  I got two other scores to beat into submission, the first one posthaste.  Which, in fact, is what I'll be doing through most of today.  Sitting at the keyboard, beating a score.

I MD'd Legally Blonde last fall.  I had a good time.  The score is a bitch - sorry for the language - and in the show, I only played a little and the second keyboard part is basically the rehearsal piano book.  Well, I can fake my way through a rehearsal fine, but actually having to play the key 2 part is kicking my butt again.  What show are you doing?

Oh, and I'm here now.  Already played a funeral this morning and now I'm back home, waiting for the Direct TV man to come.  I'll probably start the cleaning up the office to start turning into the roommates new bedroom.  I get the master bedroom and I'm totally down and jiggy with that.
