A great comment from Abby: "The purpose of life is to amount to something and have it make some difference that you lived at all."

I need a nap.

There is major winter weather predicted here for tomorrow.  We're hoping our 10:25am flight is early enough that we get out of London before it gets too bad.

I am going to see DJANGO UNCHAINED tonight.
I've got to go to the opening of the San Antonio Cocktail Conference, which I really enjoyed last year. But going to a movie sounds almost like more fun.

I finessed, futzed and fixed, and have written four new pages.  I'll probably do two or three more before visits begin, but for now I'm taking a little break.  And frankly, since I'm in a sequence that is not that hard to write, I may just wait until later to do the rest of the pages, although that would mean six or seven at once.  We'll see how I feel in a half-hour or so.

I'm waiting not-so-patiently for the Direct TV people.  They are suppose to come between 12-4 for a job that might take up to 3 1/2 hours.  So, if they get here by 4:00, they'll be here until 8:00 or so.  That is crazy.  I may need to leave the Roommate in charge, after all, he set the appt up.  That's another story, nevermind, anyway...

TOD:

THE APARTMENT
IRMA LA DOUCE
SWEET CHARITY
THE TURNING POINT
TERMS OF ENDEARMENT
MADAM SOUSATZKA

Strange, but Shirley's bio TV movie does not appear in her IMDB listing.

OIC, it's under her "Self" listing. Confusing...

A lady was stabbed in a Bed Bath And Beyond Store? I wonder what provoked that?

She took the last Hobbit-themed toilet paper dispenser?

When I went to take my car out of the garage I was rather astonished to find the garage door open.  Very unnerving.  I'm quite sure I closed it last night, as I'm very careful about that kind of thing.  This was the first instance of something like this in the last eight years.  So, my feeling is someone was on the same frequency or something and if I had to hazard a guess, and I hope I'm wrong, perhaps it's my idiot neighbors who've recently redone their home and garage.  I hope that I AM wrong and hope it was just a one-off.  I have no idea how long it was open - my car was there, obviously, and nothing was missing.  I have a ton of old and somewhat high-end electronics in the garage and that's the first thing any thief would go for.

Funeral Home said "female vocalist is requested" so, I got on the phone, called the first person on my list and secured them.  Then to call the family and find out that under no circumstances did they want anyone that sounded like "they should be in an Opera" - so I had to cancel the singer.  Who knew they wanted a Joan Baez type?  Never had to deal with that before.

And these are the days of my lives....

Did another half-page or so and the rest (three pages, probably, to get me to the end of the current chapter) will have to wait until tonight, after the visit and dinner with old friend

Ha - funny you should ask.  They know they wanted Ave Maria.  I'm floored by peoples musical ignorance sometime.  Ever heard a folk version of Ave Maria?  It is not fun.

No guest has arrived and if I'd known it was going to get this late I either would have done it over the weekend, or kept writing.  But now I'm in waiting mode and don't want to start writing because the second I do she'll arrive.  Most annoying, but I'm sure the traffic is horrible and she's coming from aways away.  If she waited until four to leave, thinking she'd be here at four-thirty, well then, I'm in for a long wait.
