Well, you've read the notes, the notes were on the road to Notesville, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently on the road to Cowsville.

Good morning, all! I was awake at 4:30am, going through a ROBERTA anxiety attack - are six sessions enough? how many numbers are in the stage band? - then I nodded and dozed until 6:15  and figured what the hell, so I am up and on my first cup of coffee.

Today is an apartment day: laundry, clean the apartment, put away all the 2012 tax crap, mop and vacuum. When all of that's over, I can watch the rest of ANNA KARENINA and maybe begin the BBC version of HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY. I like the John Ford movie, but it's not very faithful to the actual novel. I guess MGM figured after all of the constant turmoil and tragedy in the book, and it's a loooong book!, that at least Maureen O'Hara's character needed a happy ending. Doesn't she end up with Walter Pigeon's character? In the novel, they miserably go separate ways.

DR Vixmom, between my eyes and your typing, I read that you were taking your body to the van shop. If it works for you, I'm taking mine in.

At this moment I have nothing else to report.

I've just listened to the Hi-Lo's sing "The Italian Street Song." I'm sure the next thing I will hear will be Victor Herbert spinning in his grave.

Good morning, all.

The cats allowed me an extra hour this morning which, even though I was awake and imprisoned in concerns about the show, felt damned good.

I tell you, there is nothing like the return to Wellsville.  Catching a cold always seems like the end of the world, and you just have to get through those first couple of days of misery.  But as soon as you see the light at the end of the tunnel, even the orchestra is beautiful.

I actually envy BK all the chicken soup he's had this week.  I should try to find someplace around here that serves a good one.  Either that or learn how to make it myself at this tender age.

And what, I ask you, could be better than patty melts and grilled cheese sandwiches, with soup?

For this TOD I'm going to have to open up Mr. Ford's filmography to check all the titles, because there will be many I won't think of.  Meaning, I have no problem with any Ford movie I've seen, but after all these years, unlike with many directors, I have yet to acquire a "vision" of what makes a John Ford film a John Ford film.  I really don't know what his identifying mark is.  I suppose exceptions are John Wayne films shot in Monument Valley, and such, but that doesn't account for the obvious wealth of his output.

What the HELL -- we still haven't gotten up to FIVE (count'em) click-on-star ratings???

I do think what vixmom reported is what I had to do, too -- go through and rate the individual episodes and then you can rate the main page.  That seems a little weird.  I just tried it with a couple of regular TV series that I've never "rated" and was able to rate the main page with no problem.

Good morning, all.

Nine hours of Benedryl-driven sleep, which was too shallow and I was still too congested, but I feel somewhat rested.

Vibes you all  feel better.

TOD, using cheat sheet:

THE INFORMER
STAGECOACH
THE GRAPES OF WRATH
THE QUIET MAN
THE SEARCHERS

And FORT APACHE, MY DARLING CLEMENTINE, SHE WORE A YELLOW RIBBON, and and and ....

I can't include HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY till I've seen it again in this current lifetime.

I wonder if I ever saw THE LONG VOYAGE HOME and TOBACCO ROAD.  Oy!

THE QUIET MAN
HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY
STAGECOACH
MISTER ROBERTS
THE GRAPES OF WRATH

I know that most folks think that THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE is the greatest thing since chopped liver, but I've always felt it was a turkey; ineptly directed.

The only thing really memorable about it, aside from the pairing of Jimmy Stewart and John Wayne, both of whom were too old for their roles, is the "final" line: (paraphrasing) "When the facts and legend conflict, print the legend."

I do not understand what people see in this film.

In order of preference;

THE SEARCHERS
SHE WORE A YELLOW RIBBON
HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY
THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE

Not a fan of THE QUIET MAN I'm afraid.

Finally catching up with the Live From Lincoln Center special on Marvin Hamlisch, thanks to pbs.org. I went in search of the Kander and Ebb special, which hasn't been posted yet.

Saturday morning greetings!  Slept in 'til 9am, which is quite late for me.  Our day is pretty quiet until it's time to meet Rob and Mary Linda at Montgomery Inn for her belated birthday dinner.

My comment on OUTSIDE THE BOX is in the "approval" process so hasn't appeared yet.  I've only posted a couple of things on IMDb, ever, and always forget about the "approval" requirement.  Which is a joke, when you consider the meaningless crap that litters that board.  Although, I guess I'm thinking more of the message board sections than the user comments on the main pages.

I've had two postal deliveries this morning, and they both cheered me up immensely. I've got a bundle of trash to cart to the basement, a bit more tidying and the day is mine for whatever.  Tomorrow, I'm thinking about seeing LES MIZ, which is now playing a block away. But not today.
