Emily Skinner, who was unfriending people and chastising her friends because they were snarky about the Oscars - she's surprisingly silent today, now that everyone is posting how terrible they were.  Funny that.

I'm sorry, but I enjoyed them.  Horse racing.

I wouldn't wear them to a funeral or a wedding though

I would like to wear them to my own funeral.

I read this morning that Andy Griffith was not mentioned in the memoriam tribute, along with others.  Really, who decides which actors are included and are they all too young to remember his fine movie career?
Sounds like they left out a lot of people, especially those who started in movies but did a lot of TV work, such as Larry Hagman and Lupe Ontiveros. They'll never get those things right, but, seriously, there are numerous places online that log which celebrities died in the preceding year. You'd think they would use something like that.

I think that they could've shown/featured Marvin Hamlisch when Barbra started to sing, but then continued with more people for the rest of the song...just my 2˘.

But, if they did that, George, we wouldn't have been able to see Barbra as she sang!

Also, I believe that the only reason Barbra agreed to sing at the Oscars was to honor Marvin.

Custard pie.  No one ever makes custard pies anymore.

Not true.  My Aunt Doris made one at Christmas (primarily for my cousin Butch, her first-born, but she still let me have some).

:D

How was it?

Oddly, Johnson's frozen custard pie was rather good.   When we lived in Michigan one of the markets sold a delicious custard pie and I haven't seen it since.

I want to see Jane drive all the way to Michigan for a custard pie!

The pies were gone before we moved away the first time.

Last night I watched most the Oscars sitting in my recliner.  Nicky loves to curl up on my lap when I am in the recliner.  Unfortunately, I don't sit there very often because it is kind of a risky move getting from the wheelchair into the recliner,

Anyway, during the show, Nicky got up and went over to his drinking fountain on the other side of the room.  He was walking back to the recliner when Cathereine Zita Jones started singing "All That Jazz."  Nicky stopped in his tracks and looked up at the big screen.  He must have watched about a minute before he stopped watching and came back to the chair.

The academy has a committee which goes over the lists.  The claim they have to make hard choices and eliminate some folks, perhaps because they weren't as well-known for their movies as much as they are known for their TV appearances.

They tend to show a lot of folks no one "out here" has much knowledge of.  Given the time factor (i.e., they always go OVER), they could include all the names without any problem.   TCM Does this sort of thing SO much better!

Maybe they should drop it if they can't include everyone.  It would be very easy to cut out a few jokes and add the extra names.  It is just wrong when they leave people out.

I thought the "In Memoriam' section was handled very nicely last night.  I think the fact that George Clooney was asked to announce it shows that the Academy were trying to put more importance to the segment and to improve over the last few years where they have messed up.

I thought it was done very well, however...... I kept thinking during Michelle's long speech, which I felt didn't belong there unless she has something to do with the academy I don't know about, the time could have been used to include those that were left out of the Memoriam.

My chest is still hurting (congested). My sister gave me some Vick's vapor rub to try. Never tried it before. Hopefully the smell won't bother me. I think if it's pepperminty or like ben gay i will be fine.

You've mean you've never smelled Vick's Vapo-Rub??  It's menthol and eucalyptus, not pepperminty at all.

I don't know what Bengay smells like.
I have never smelled it. It sounds crazy but i have never really been congested in my chest. Maybe I cannot smell too well right now because  do not find Vicks to be very strong smelling.

I read today that the family of the deceased have to campaign to have the person included, which seems highly ridiculous....and sad.

I don't believe that is true.  The Academy also published a web gallery honoring 114 of the people who died last year.

How did you manage not to be unfriended ;)

I've seen some silly reasons people have unfriended other people.  Over the Oscars rates with the silliest of them.

Because I wasn't posting about the Oscars on Facebook :)

Had a fun but very difficult rehearsal today.  Most of the difficult part stems from the charts, which are, in most cases, just not very good - our poor musical director has really had to work hard, but we still had a ton of problems trying to match the music to what I'd sent the singers, which sometimes differed from what I sent the pianist because it was easier to hear the vocals on what I sent to the singers - I think we got it all straightened out - when everyone's a little more together I think this is going to be a really fun show.  Now, back to my movie and wacky noodles.

But I can't believe how virulent some people are about an awards show that has never tried to me anything but a way for patting themselves on the back.  One story I read today blamed Seth for the use of the JAWS Theme.

Well, we're waiting now to see if our Aunt Minnie accepts the offer. I just sent all of her dialogue to Ireland so her agent can show it to her.  I'm hoping she says yes.

I've discovered  that my shoulder and neck pains may be computer related, so I have to start some exercises and Joshie has a masseur for me to see.
That's not the plot of one of those VHS movies you watch, is it?

I made a pecan pie and baked a frozen apple pie for my book group last Thursday.  When our Saturday family gathering materialized, I decided to bake another frozen apple pie and make another pecan.  I made the pecan pie in a disposable pan and sent what was left back to Pittsburgh with my cousin.  Richard is enjoying the apple.
