Glad to hear about The Intouchables. I liked the previews, but missed the film when it played the theater -- though I will say that the preview gave the impression of showing highlights from the entire movie.

Good morning, all! I will shortly head down to Toyland. I want to listen to the Act One edits on the big sound system.

DR TCB, New World Records is the company releasing my recordings ( http://www.newworldrecords.org/ ). I was notified two days ago that they would like DEAREST ENEMY to be their release for sale in October, meaning it will available to customers in the first week of October. There are outside factors affcting the date: the Rodgers & Hart reps opinion, how quickly the editing and mastering work can be accomplished. I sent the cast a request for their bios of 150 words or less by April 1.

Last year we recorded EILEEN in August, and I heard the first edit of the recording in November. This year our producer is so busy - the curse of three Grammy awards? - it's four months later and I've only heard one act. Hopefully, I will get the rest in thenext week and a half. So, it may not be released in October. Still, it's better to be prepared and have the work done now rather han wait.

More coffee and I'm outa here!

Finally got round to watching the rest of the 1958 French film of LES MISERABLES (Olive Films). It’s a handsome looking film with excellent color and good production values but somewhat pedestrian in direction. There’s a lack of excitement due to too many rather static camera set-ups and the performances (other than Bourvil as Thenardier and Silvia Monfort, remarkably good, as Eponine) lack emotion. A major problem is the uninspired and sparse music score by Georges Van Parys - it’s a film which badly needs a big symphonic score. Despite its faults I still enjoyed it, thanks to the strong storyline and various sub-plots. The Blu-ray (also on DVD) appears to be a roadshow version with the end of Act 1 music and Entr’acte music prior to Act 2. The film originally ran another 30 minutes on top of this three hour version and the frequent abrupt fade-outs, probably indicate where cuts were made.

Good morning! It's a snow day--all the schools, local and federal govenment offices in the DC area area closed. Where I live the snow is not quite covering the grass, but it's supposed to snow for a good part of the day.
