When I used to have to drive the boys home in the dark I hated to see the end of daylight saving & wished it never ended.  Now that I don't need the extra daylight I have it-lol.

Back from a nice lunch with dear reader Jeanne at Lenny's Deli, the deli that took over for Junior's in the Wood of West.  The good news is the food is much better than Junior's.  Nowhere near Langer's or Nate 'n' Al's, but good.  In fact, the kishka is better than Langer's and just under Nate's.  The pastrami is good, but not great, but better than Jerry's certainly.  They had some very good looking mac-and-cheese so I ordered a side - that was the most disappointing and I only had a couple of bites.  We also ordered two potato pancakes - obviously not as good as Langer's, but better than Jerry's and better than most I've had.

I have been waiting for you to lunch together at Lenny's.  Thanks for the report.  Did you check if they have egg bagels?

Hello, everyone.

It was nice to see BK again and also to try out Lenny's. I ordered fish and chips, which wasn't bad. Maybe not the best test for a Jewish deli. BK ordered several dishes to try so we could both taste them. I would agree with BK--good, but not great. I'm pleased, though, that we do still have a deli in the 'hood.

Jane, I think your question was addressed to BK, but I'll say that I didn't check for egg bagels.

We received an unintentionally funny email from Keith's cousin.  She went for a walk in Venice with her parent's and sent a photo of a synagogue they passed that his aunt said Keith had his Bar Mitzvoh.

We were surprised to learn this since his Bar Mitzvah was at a little Orthodox synagogue on Robertson's near their house.  Keith did attend one in Venice before they moved but this wasn't the one ;D

Either of you.  If you don't know I expect Bruce doesn't.

My usual order at Junior's was a toasted egg bagel & a soft boiled egg.  They did both very well.  When Jerry's first opened they did that ok but then their egg bagels became tasteless.

I loved Nate 'n' Al's so much.  I tried to work in a Beverly Hills visit the last time I went to L.A. in May, but the scheduling didn't work out.

Got to relax over a little MY GEISHA this evening.  Beautiful score, and of course a great disc.

There is egg in the batter, kind of like the difference between white bread and challah.  I don't know how else to explain it.

Time for "The Opposite Sex" with Dolores Gray, June Allyson and Ann Miller. But the beginning is not "The Women."

I do know challah. I wonder if egg bagels are sold around here.  The main shop i go to only has sesame or poppy or pumpernickel bagels.

The last thing Arizona needs in the summer is MORE daylight! So I am glad we have the sense to pass on Daylight Savings Time.

I wish we had a deli in Austin.
