...and we're home!  We drove through some pretty heavy snow - very poor visibility, but the roads were only wet, not snow-covered.

I'm working hard at packing up the kitchen but I'm going to have to stop.  We have strong showers heading our way.  I got most of the pots and pans/baking stuff done.  I dread packing the 2 bookshelves full of can goods.

I think I'll do that next weekend.  I bought about 15 of the fifty cent blue walmart bags to help with the packing and it works pretty good.  At least they have a nice handle to help with the food/whatever.

I'm a bit sorry at some of the things I will have to give up.  The book shelves were built by my Dad but I just don't have any place to put them.  I had hoped that they would build the place for the W/D first and I could have put a least one of them there.

I think I'll have to get rid of the kitchen table I have now too.  My Mom loved that table--it's butcher block but I would rather have them go to the GoodWill and help someone else then see them go to the dump.

I've actually started telling people and rather than fear, I feel relief and a lot of the excitement I felt back when I applied to be a judge.   I cancelled my state contract for criminal defense about a month ago.   I've been saying no to new federal appointments but haven't officially gotten off the list.   I'm ready to do that now.  I'll probably write the email tomorrow.  I'll still be working hard,, but there will be fewer nights and weekends and I will have more of an office practice.  It will mean the end of jury trials, but I'll still have hearings before the immigration judges.   This is a change I look forward to.  Thanks for all the good wishes.

It is wonderful reading your excitement.  :)

I'm confused.  You can't stand Doyle's Sherlock Holmes, or you will only read Doyle?

I will stick with reading the Sherlock Holmes stories by Doyle and pass on his other novels.

Have to schlep some 20 miles to the high school tomorrow morning at dawn's crack, for a day of rehearsals.  Naturally, the Professional Weather Guessers are calling for the possibility of some snow or other unpleasant precipitation from this eastward moving storm ... sometime through the day, could be early, could be late.  It couldn't have come today or Tuesday or any other day.  No, sir.  It gets here on the one day I must be out and about.  It's only supposed to be an inch or so of slushy stuff, but things could shift a little and it could then be a few inches of solid snow.  Help!  I can't take it any more!  Get me out of here!

Where do you want to go :)

I'm sending early morning and weather vibes!!!!

Ouch.  This may be an obvious question but can you roll over in a different direction to get out of bed?  I'm guessing you can't help what you do in your sleep.

I'm trying to sleep in my back more or on my other shoulder. I don't know any other way to get out of bed that doesn't put pressure on my shoulder. :(

I have to roll on my hip to get out of bed.

Went to see my cousin Ross do his stand-up at a comedy club last night.  Usually, we get seats very close-up, because his mom thinks wer'e better for him when we're sitting close and he sees and hears us laughing (I think that's the logic) but last night we were a big party (9 people) so we had to sit further back if we wanted  our whole party to stay together.

What's in part fascinating is that from further back, because of other people's heads in the way, you start watching the live feeds (like at a real concert or event!) a little on the simultaneous TV sets around the large-ish room for all the comedians/.  the Tv's are just there, you can't help it sometimes.   So it felt more like a REAL event. Fun to really see the whole room laughing for him, which you don;t see when you're up close,a s his Mom always had liked us to be in the past!

But what's weird is how many people leave after THEIR friend is on, meaning teh peopel toward teh end of the ste get short shrift.  I'd almost decide of I wound up in the last five or six to say no thanks, i won't go on, I'm starting off with a disadvantage of half the room being mpty.

I love Cousin Ross' new comedy-act tag line:  (not in his real life, but he uses it for his act)

"Why do girls hate me, it's got to be the god damn economy!"

I love your "Professional Weather Guessers" comment.  I have often said I missed out on the best job on the planet.  All you have to say it that it "might" happen.  We "might" have snow today.  Mind you I didn't say we will, I said "might".  We "might" have rain" at the end of week.  It doesn't happen, then again I didn't say it "would" rain, I said it "might".  And if it does---then hey, I was RIGHT!!!!!  What a great job!

I'm up - got up at ten after a really nice night's sleep - feeling pretty damn good this morning, mostly due to breathing easy about the big boy computer.  I did spend thirty minutes on the phone with a nice Apple Man, and he said I should have been told about Word having to relaunch, and all the other little things it had to do - but everything is working perfectly now and he even found the problem on the laptop with the Mail program, so that's fine now, too.  I will say, Time Machine is doing backups much more frequently than normal, but he said that would happen for a while, until it all settles in.  In fact, several things that were problematic last night were fine this morning - has to do with synching and other things.

Then I went to the mail place - the package that hadn't arrived had, in fact, arrived last Tuesday.  It was very small and they missed it when the helper picked up stuff that day.  They found it instantly when I gave them the tracking number.  Then I went to Gelson's and picked up some fruit and now I shall shower and then lunch.

Thank you for your concern, DR Jane.  We seem to be having a lull between snowstorms, which will give us the chance to go to the visitation for Cathy and have dinner with Rob and Mary Linda.  Richard and I usually avoid the funeral home routine and prefer to attend the service.  However, that's scheduled for noon tomorrow and we're not sure we'll be able to get down our driveway then...
