Yesterday, I went to see a local production of a show called "The Somewhat True Tales of Robin Hood" by Mary Lynn Dobson, put on by Olympia Family Theater.  They produced the original musical version of "The Wind in the Willows," that I was involved in last year.  This was a delightfully silly and funny show.  It was a small audience, but they loved it.  Here's the synopsis from OFT's website:

Quote
It sure is hard to be humble when you’re a swashbuckling, egocentric super-hero. But our gallant guy-in-green tries his best as he swaggers through The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood, a frantically funny, Monty Pythonesque retelling of the classic. This time around, the legendary legend, in his never-ending quest to aid the needy, encounters a lovely damsel-in-distress (oddly obsessed with skin conditions); an ever-scheming sheriff who would rather bowl a strike than hit a bull’s-eye; a gold-hoarding, bad-guy monarch wannabe; and a good-natured “Town’s Guy” who manages to make his way into every scene, whether he belongs there or not. Combine them with an expandable band of spoon-wielding Merry Men whose collective IQs equal six, and you’ve got an irreverent jaunt through Sherwood Forest you won’t soon forget!

After the show, I went to my parent's house for Easter dining (it' wasn't early enough for "dinner" and it was too late for lunch), and we also played Phase 10.  I won!!  It was the first time in quite a while that I did.

I eventually came home, watched some Doctor Who specials and am now going to bed. 8)

Good morning, all! I had a terrible night of sleep. I turned off the lights at 10pm, slept well until around 1:30am when I had a huge ROBERTA anxiety attack. I got up around 2 and caught up on HHW posts before I sent back to bed around 2:30. I slept poorly the rest of the night.

So, I am ready to head to Toyland. I'll continue to proof the first edit and I'm meeting one of the singers I approached last week about the leading role for coffee at 2:30. I am hoping, too, that today we get a final answer from the producer's choice for the role.

Well, at least tomorrow you'll have a visit from Anthony. That should make you smile and forget some of the tsuris.

Thank you to all here at HHW for the thoughts that were sent yesterday.  I appreciate it them very much, and I will pass them on to my sister & family.

Since I also have a brother named Mike, I have to be very certain when talking to people that I am speaking of my brother-in-law.

Good morning, all.

Here's hoping April isn't the cruelest month.

DR Mike, I don't remember a anything elaborate ever on April's Fools Day, just a few corny jokes.

Got the second load of dishes going this morning, and was surprised to get both sides of the sink cleared, so that I can start washing the glasses when I get a free hour or two.

Time to get back to normal. And let the house get dirty again.

Wasn't it Judy Garland who sang:  "Forget your tsouris, come on get coffee"  - or was that Juan Valdez?

TOD:

It's been so long (20 yrs.) since I've had Thai food that I've really forgotten what all the various dishes are.

Today our power is being turned off so the power company can replace a pole in our alley. I wonder if this is an April Fool's joke?

TOD: Favorite Thai food was a place in Florida where I used to live. It was called Thai Cafe and I was taken with the food that I ate there five times one week. I became friends with the owners, Sam and Nancy, and both were exceptional cooks, but both had different styles. So, I learned a lot about Thai cooking from eating their food.

Favorites included meats cooked with basil leaves, Masaman (spellings vary, cold also be musaman) with carrots and potatoes plus meat in a coconut curry, a series of volcano dishes that were as hot as the name implies, and anything with plenty of vegetables.

Nancy's trademark dessert was what she called Thai donuts, pillows of rice flour dough fried to a sizzling hot. When served, they might still be too hot to touch. But never greasy. They came with a vanilla-lemon glaze with peanuts that you dipped them in. Sheer perfection.
