TOD: I don't need a television. The entire outdoors is my television.

Beautiful. I particularly love the cardinal.

Well, I'm off!  I don't actually need to be at the theater until 7:00, but I'm feeding a friend's cats, so I want to do that before the two shows tonight...then they won't have to wait until midnight or later to get fed.

Be back later!

I made a technology purchase recently and guess what, it actually works. It does what it's supposed to do and it's simple to set up and I may actually subscribe to Netflix because of it.

I bought this little techno wonder

TV to PC Converter

Attach it to your laptop (I'm talking PC here, I don't know if it works with Apple) and then attach it to the television and bingo, your screen is now on your television screen.

We watched a couple of programs on Acorn TV last night without problem. We also watched an old YouTube video of an interview with

Joan Crawford

It's from 1966 done by the BBC (it's in 3 parts, about 14 minuest each). It's much more fun to watch it full screen on the television than on the computer screen.

I'm thinking I may sign up for a free trial of Netflix Streaming to see what kind of movies they have. If I like it we may take the plunge and not use the library as much for DVDs.

Speaking of Netflix Streaming, does anyone know if Stepping Out, the Liza Minnelli movie from 1991 is on Netflix Streaming. We've been trying to see that (since Anthony has been taking tap, it's become a bit of holy grail for him). I've found people who sell VHS to DVR transfers and VHS copies on Ebay and Amazon but no DVD copies. If' it's on a streaming network we could actually watch it.

We have watched programs on the laptop in the past but neither of us like it. It's uncomfortable and the screen is hard to see (it's a 15 inch laptop). If it's OK for one of us, the other has a slight problem. This device takes care of the problem It's on our television screen and all is well. It's an old television (from 2000) so it's not an HD picture but we don't care. It's a very good picture (depending on what's being streamed from the computer) and the sound is good. That's all I want. I'm not a cinephile so color saturation, etc. means nothing to me. I just want to see the movie. This looks like it can do the job.

We will finish Mildred Pierce tonight and then tomorrow we will watch an old VHS of Sunny (1930) with Marilyn Miller.

this sounds like an very interesting little item  I think I may explore this

I posted this on the HTF yesterday, re the HELLO, DOLLY! Blu-ray released this week:

I guess it was too much to ask for Best Buy, Target, Walmart or Costco to have any interest in stocking such an obscure, family-unfriendly title as this one upon its first heralded unheralded Blu-ray release.  So...

Helloooooo, Amazon!

Seriously, I just don't get it.  Or didn't yesterday.  But get it I shall, and sadly, none of these good people will make a sale from my getting it.  The Amazon delivery is on its way and is supposed to happen today.  It shipped from Indiana and they had two days to get it here, but UPS departure-scanned it at Poughkeepsie, where I hope they aren't just picking their feet, so it is but an hour away from being put on a truck right here, brought to my door, and handed to me on a little satin pillow.  (To clarify, the Blu-ray should be the one on a little satin pillow -- not me.)  In theory.  We'll see how it goes.

But I do look forward to seeing this film straight through from beginning to end for my first time ever.

Yes, for my first time ever.  Shocking, I know -- and apologies to DR KevinH, but I never had an interest in this version of DOLLY, what with all the various points of departure from the original concept.  And I still might not exactly love it, but I can't wait to revel in the transfer and to let it do its thing with the sound cranked up.  I do not expect to be disappointed.

So, God willing, this post should be considered Part I of the TOD.

UPS in CT delivers on a  little satin pillow? In NY we get silver platters

With sadness, I note that New Milford Volkswagen, the oldest VW dealership in the country (still an exceptionally good one, and still out by itself on a country road), has been brought more into the corporate fold and their website no longer carries their familiar slogan "across the road from the cows".

Yes, the cows.

Unless the cows didn't come home??  Oh my god.  Well, I'm about to find out.

LOL!

Hi all!  I wanted to let you know the the tear down went smooth--it barely took them an hour to do it because there were so few cabinets.  They decided to get a start on the install instead of waiting until tomorrow.

Jackie Calloway from 28 news was here as well.  It was very nice to see her again. She remembered me and my story.  She is soooo happy for me.  The story will run on Thursday she said.  I don't know how to record it so it can be on a DVD.  Is there anything I can do?

I have lots of photos to share when things calm down.

Gotta scoot!

I am so , so  very happy for you!!!

Oh, how could I forget, there was a plumbing company here that is going to give me a whole new septic tank system!  Can you BELIEVE it?!  I guess good things DO happen to those who wait.

you know you are officially a grown up when you hear a friend is getting a whole new septic system and you are envious!

Congratulations !

No, I guess there isn't.....

Oh that's what I was thinking DR BEN.....but I can only find the other version at Samuel French.  ???

Maybe you were thinking of the British/American versions of "The Full Monty."

;)
Tap dancing and stripping. Yes, I often get those two confused.  ;)

hmmm - that explains the number of spectators at your tap class
