Good morning, all!

I hardly slept last night: first the neighbor who's been elsewhere for the past several nights, then the mouse, and all of the tsuris of casting ROBERTA. Most of my day will be at Toyland working on the dialogue and dealing with the potential leading man and his agent. At the moment, I am very soured on dealing with the Man from Philadelphia.

Now that I've actually seen the mouse, I will get traps and kill this nuisance ASAP.

Now I need to win the lottery so I can keep this recording project going, keep my team employed, and deal on a more solid footing with the Man from Philly.

And I thank your for the vibes. Please keep them coming!

I passed a sign on my way to work. One of the lotteries is up to $83 million. When Larry and I both win it that's still 41.5 million each and I can retire and Larry can keep working on Roberta.

TOD:

I didn't get into westerns until ridiculously late in life, like, within the past five years. The exploration has been fun and immensely satisfying, and I know I've been hearing some great film music, but that isn't something I've mentally catalogued for myself as of yet. The Morricone scores, of course, are unique and wonderful, but could I rattle off favorite "regular" westerns scores? No, not at this point.

I was sort of thinking about this last night as I sampled the new MAJOR DUNDEE release. I've never seen the movie, and in just checking out the disc by hitting the chapter button a few times, it was obvious what a different tone each of its scores brings to the film. I have no idea how I'll feel about either of them once I've watched both versions, but I look forward to the discovery.

The only Tarantino film I've seen in a theater was PULP FICTION and I had no idea who he was at that time. Everyone was talking about the film, so I went, and I guess for the most part I enjoyed it. Beyond that, every one of his films I've gotten to know has been long after the fact, on disc. I don't think there's been one I haven't liked (for the most part), but I'm never initially very interested in seeing the latest one. It takes hearing about it for a while to get me up for seeing it. I wonder what a "native" Tarantino film, one that isn't a riff on a genre, would be like.

JACKIE BROWN was an amazing late discovery for me, having lived in the South Bay. Apparently he insisted on being able to film on location in the Del Amo mall, or there would be no film, and I love all of the location work. It's a damned nice movie in all other respects, too.

It is, along with two Jerome Moross scores, several Kurt Weill shows, several Jerome Kern, Victor Herbert shows and orchestra music, Cole Porter - including "Jubilee" - and Rodgers & Hart. It's about 29 shows at the moment.
