I'm up, I'm up - barely.  She of the Evil Eye is here - won't be doing this extra hour early again, that much I can tell you.

Last night was my first night into the throes of Fiesta fun here. Worked at the Fiesta Oyster Bake in which thousands of people get together to eat oysters (or any manner of fried foods, from chicken to cheesecake) and drink. The wine table where I worked was near the jazz stage (there's a country stage and a rock stage, too). I think I had the best of it, though the only food I managed to get was a bucket of grilled oysters and a few oyster shooters that someone managed to drop by the booth.

Here are a few oysters grilling over the coals. This was right behind the wine booth, and the aromas of smoke, shellfish and brine filled the air. Just wonderful.

Just finished the laundry.

Anthony is on the mend but still sniffling and coughing. I had breakfast at Pret a Manger, yogurt with julienne sliced apples, cinnamon, raisins and a sprinkling of granola. I also had a cup of coffee. They have oatmeal at Pret but I went for the yogurt.

I'll be off to the library at 10 to return Torch Song (OMG, Joan in Blackface, what a jaw-dropping segment) and a documentary on the history of the vibrator. We saw excerpts when we watched Hysteria last week and wanted to see the entire documentary. It's AMAZING that in Texas and, I think, 3 other Southern states, it is illegal, punishable by fines and jail time, to sell vibrators!!! As one of the lawyers says, you can buy and sell Viagra with ease but vibrators, nope!!

Yes, Ben, one of the stupidities of living in my state. Another would be that our senators voted against disaster relief for victims of the natural disaster, Hurricane Sandy, but are begging for relief for the people affected by the West fertilizer plant disaster, which was manmade and could have been avoided if the state weren't so lax on businesses operating with who knows how many code violations.

Today is the day of my brother in law's memorial....  I will be doing The Rose in sign language.  There will be a candle ceremony, and a Native American fire. My friend Adam will play the flute while people write messages to Mike and put them in the fire....it will be very nice.....
Vibes of comfort.

It's a very nice day in Manhattan. I've been in and out and now I'm having a salad with romaine lettuce, cubed chicken, baby carrots, grape tomatoes and cranberries with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. After that settles I will ride the indoor bike for about 45 minutes.

Bruce thinks George has not been here posting.

George is here and posting (not today, yet). He posted yesterday on pages 3 and 4. He posted the day before that and the day before that. He's busy with his show in the evening but he's not missing in action. He just didn't post yesterday after 9:30 Eastern time (6:30 Washington State time).

I'll have my salad Edith Piaf style _ Vinagrette Rien.

Did a three-mile jog, then bought some new running shoes, since mine are basically beginning to fall apart.  Ate some melon balls and shall now get ready for the matinee.

It's been a crazy week for pets and wild animals in our family.  First Adam's cat, Benjamin Franklin was throwing up so he set him outside.  He heard a commotion and opened the door and a fox was on their door step trying to attack Ben.   He said Benny got the best of the deal and he wasn't bitten or injured, but pretty scary.  The fox then went to the back yard, waiting for the cat to come out.  Adam shot at him and scared him away.

Then yesterday my brother let Teddy the minpin (big fat round min pin) out and he heard Ted yelp.  There was a coyote chasing him up to the house!   David said poor Ted pooped half way through the doggy door.  Heck that would scare it out of me too!  David said that he's seen the coyote in the neighborhood a lot so he's going to get someone to hunt it down.  He's not really in town, but since he's the city attorney he can get someone a permit to shoot in city limits.

My choice for the casino didn't get the bid this week.  Instead it's going to be Hard Rock Casino and Hotel.  It's not a Hard Rock Cafe, that name is owned by the Seminoles, I think.   Anyway, I'm not that thrilled about it but it will be ok, I guess
