Supposedly, there is a place at 82nd and Columbus, one block away from me! I'll walk over there very shortly and, if they are in business, get these photos taken

DR JohnG, how large is that theatre? It looks huge!.
It seats 2,311, according to the website. It was built in 1929. Has great acoustics, especially in the balcony, so it's fun to see the symphony there.

I have been to 82nd and Columbus and returned with six passport photos. I'll fill out the form and post it on my way to Lincoln Center.

TOD: I remember one or two of the large movie houses in Louisville, none of which still exists. My favorite, the Vogue, is now a kitchen goods store.

But the Majestic in San Antonio has been turned into a legit house and it's beautiful. Here are a few pictures.

My wife and I saw SPAMALOT there.  Fantastic theater.

TOD:

The most opulent theater in downtown Seattle was the Orpheum.

It was torn down long ago and an ugly hotel now stands on that spot.

Perhaps my favorite theater was our neighborhood Roycroft, located on 19th at Roy.

A Russian community center now occupies that space.

Watched SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK last night.

The actors were sensational, but except for their performances, I sort of tuned out of the movie itself after the first half hour.

Maybe it was just me, but the story seemed "cluttered"; the action "forced".

I am not usually a klutz. But I just opened a door and then it closed back and hit me in the face. And now the side of my face is all red. And the side of my cheek/eye are sore. :(

I iced it. But it still hurts. :(

TOD

While my childhood theaters were all nice places, and I loved them dearly, none were the kind you'd call opulent.  I was taken to a few opulent ones (such as the Ohio or the Palace in downtown Columbus) as a child, but my memories of those times are about as scant as memories get.  My opulent theater period would come later in Hollywood where I could, at a moment's notice, catch such fare as THE HINDENBURG at the Chinese, FOR PETE'S SAKE at the (still single screen) Pacific, and SOYLENT GREEN at the Pantages.

George or anyone else in the know: April is nearing an end. Have you heard anything more about "At Long Last Love" on DVD?

Lovely photos from DR JOHN G.

TOD:
My local theatre when I was growing up was called The Ritz, but it was a regular looking movie house.....

The fanciest was probably The Circle in Indianapolis up on the Circle, of course....it is now the Hilbert Theatre for the ISO.  There were several nice movie palaces in Downtown Indy, but I don't think we ever went to them....  We did go to the Cinerama place a couple of times.....

And on Wednesday morning, I am taping a radio interview about my upcoming auditions for ANGEL STREET aka GASLIGHT.

I feel like DataLounge has been hosting a production of GASLIGHT for a while now, now that we have the proof that their webmaster actually was one of the people involved!!!  (He's caught redhanded having actually changed my posts and leaving my signature on them.  Also one of my collaborators and leaving his signature on.)  They can no longer claim they were just a site with a Twitter or Fcaebook exception on which others who just used their service were misbehaving..  Bk may have been right. this may have been a Pakula film after all.  It's good to have this info, but it's creepy towards what end all this was done.  Motive seems very blurry here.)

I understand it's been delayed, but until when I do not know.

Since it's being distributed by Twilight Time, perhaps BK knows more about the delay.

I enjoyed MAD MEN last night, but that actress playing Dawn - Don's secretary - is really, really weak.  I didn't notice so much last year, but last night it she was so bad, I checked to make sure it was the same actress playing the part.

Just went off campus to meet someone and my phone died. I had no idea what office in a 15-story tower he was in. So I had to come back to work, plug the phone in, let it recharge a bit and then message him what happened. Strange how in such a short time I have become glued to this electronic device.
