The most exciting part about Carlsbad Cavern was the bats flying out at night!

Outback is too nice for me. I'm not comfortable there.

I understand the more rural Outbacks have a separate facility called an Outhouse which is constructed behind the restaurant for those who aren't used to the fancy-schmancy ways of regular customers.

The parade looks like fun.  Were there any big dogs in the parade?
Quite a few of them. There were a couple of magnificent great Danes, a favorite dog of mine. These looked like you could practically saddle them.
Here's a fuzzy one:

.

That is definite'y the fuzziest Great Dane I have ever seen!

Falling right after the picture of the pancake, I read that as "were there any hot dogs in the parade?"

TOD

National:
PANERA BREAD
IHOP - breakfast only
CRACKER BARREL - breakfast only
RED LOBSTER - prefer this over most other family-type chains; prefer the old kitschy decor to the current upscale-ish bland look

U.S. regional:
STEAK & SHAKE
BOB EVANS and PERKINS - breakfast only
WAFFLE HOUSE
WHITE CASTLE
BIG BOY (Bob's, Frisch's, etc.)

More local regional:
(Cincinnati):  SYKLINE and GOLD STAR.  Never had them frequently enough to cultivate a preference.
(NYC-centric):  SHAKE SHACK.  Various NJ/NY/New England diners that aren't really a chain, but they're all very much alike.
(L.A. - Oy! where to begin?):  DU-PARS, MARIE CALLENDER'S, TOMMY'S, ASTRO BURGER, probably many many more.
PEA SOUP ANDERSEN'S - at least it used to be a chain.  I'm forgetting a LOT here.
(Philadelphia):  Don't recall the names, but several CHEESE STEAK places.

Agree about the smell of SUBWAY.  I've actually commented on that for years.  I usually like their subs, but I don't think to stop in at one very often at all -- which is a little odd since they're based in Connecticut and are EVERYWHERE.

DR CILLA LIZ - how do you think the Arias trial is going?  The jury is supposed to have the case by Friday.....

Well, I think the rebuttal case was great.  I think she's going to get first degree

I highly recommend the Carousel on pbs.org with the New York Philharmonic. The music sounds so beautiful coming from that large an orchestra and the girl who plays Louise, someone named Tiler Peck, is amazing as both actress and dancer during her big ballet scene.

I missed the Camelot they did a few years back but seeing Nathan Gunn in this made me sorry I missed that earlier performance.

We're having a huge thunderstorm right now, so I'm going to sign off. Night, all.

I will definitely have to catch up with the NY Philharmonic CAROUSEL, first and foremost to hear the orchestra play it.  This is the original unadulterated score, right?

I know you didn't like the direction, Bruce. Do you quarrel with the casting?

Frankly, I didn't like much of anything about it.

Back from the second opening night.  A play about Lorenz Hart, featuring the songs of Rodgers and Hart.  A strange hybrid that doesn't really work, IMO - the actors were good, the direction a little lax for my taste, and some playwriting problems definitely need to be addressed. I'll be nice in the notes because it's a brand new work and I know a lot of the folks involved.  This type of show is just not really my cuppa.

Then, I need to get myself back to The Midnight Sun where we'll have tonight's two performances of "Reservoir Dogs."

The men's final show tonight was great!  It was sold out!  Actually, we added eight, count 'em, EIGHT seats because of all the demand.  The grandfather of one of the actors got there just a bit too late and had to be turned away.  He was not amused.  The show itself was their best performance.  A great time was had by all!

The audience for women's show at 10:00 was more than half filled and they had a good show, too.  They still have one show tomorrow and then it's all over.

Many PBS videos are available from their site for streaming. So nice not to have to bother recording them! When they're no longer available from PBS they usually go to Netflix.

And that is what I hate about streaming...they're never available for very long.  I prefer the option of purchasing an actual physical DVD/Blu-ray/CD and be able to keep it for as long as it lasts.
