I saw I'll Eat You Last, yesterday evening.

We had rush tickets which are the last row of the mezzanine at the Booth Theatre. I love the Booth. It's probably my favorite theatre on Broadway. It's small and beautifully maintained and the mezzanine is close enough that the last row doesn't put you in the heavens so you can't see or hear what's going on.

The show was actually quite good. After all the carping I did, I'm very glad I got to see it. The play is no great shakes but it's full of funny one-liners. Midler gives an excellent performance. She's not Midler up there doing shtick in the style of Sue Mengers, she's Sue for the evening. She really inhabits the character and she's believable and funny and poignant. She should have been nominated for a Tony. The set is gorgeous and Joe Mantello does a good job of taking this lump of a play and turning it into something watchable for 85 minutes (no intermission). The $80 tickets that I mentioned a few weeks ago have now gone up to $87 (they were the seats I sat in) and on Friday those same tickets are $92!!! I know if those were the prices I paid I wouldn't have seen the show but for $35 I had a wonderful night in the theatre.

We are now looking to do Kinky Boots on Rush. $37 at the Al Hirschfeld. We just have to pick a date. I will also be doing Pippin on Rush $37 at the Music Box (another of my favorite Broadway houses).

The first K-cup o' the morning was Emeril's "Big Easy Bold", which I make on the smallest setting for a nice near-espresso-like concentration of rich coffee. It was accompanied by a perfectly ripe (not too early, not too late) banana.

I shall have some cereal in a bit -- I believe there's a nice Raisin Bran Crisp (?) on the shelf -- one of those with some granola-type goodies, and it's very very good. Second cup of coffee will be a medium-sized Newman's Own Special Blend, I believe it's called.

These two are, for the time being, more or less my morning standards.

I shall be taking the car into the dealership ("across the road from the cows" -- and I did see them last time) at noon for a new set of all-season tires and front end alignment -- and, if they can do it at the same time, some vacuum hoses that need to be replaced. An Oy! for the wallet, to be sure, but it will be great to have these things done. I must say I take pretty nice care of this car, and every time I drive out of there it's like the thing is new again. For a while. Until the next Thing.

This current set of tires has lasted me since November 2007 -- so, five whole years -- because I take them off and use snow tires in the winter. And the snow tires are just about that old, but they've got at least another winter in them. This car, and, I guess, the way I drive it, does really well on tires, much better than previous ones.

Good morning, all!

I slept rather well,l for a change, and I look forward to today's events. At 10am Judy Sherman and I begin the final mix for DEAREST ENEMY, and we'll finish it tomorrow. I like putting the voices and sound effects into perspective, and I hope it will be as much fun, if not more, as mixing the EILEEN last year.

Before I go, I need to call the podiatrist's nurse and see if we can set an appointment for Thursday or Friday.

I'm off to the market.

Tuesday morning greetings! I'm up early to have a blood test and then head to Dayton for lunch with the grantwriters. Didn't need to fast for the blood test, so I've just had some lovely fresh strawberries mixed into vanilla yogurt.
