Just received the first draft of the audio adaptation of my stage play, HAIL ON THE CHIEF!

The Colonial Radio Theatre on the Air is going to do a full cast recording of it in July for release early next year.

Congratulations, Druxy.

I am not liking the weather today. It is 35F with windchill and only getting up to high 40s. I think tomorrow will be 60F and then 70F the rest of the week. It's crazy because last week it was 80F every day and sunny. :(

Happiest of Birthdays to The Lovely Wife today!

TOD:  The biggest injustices going today are the ones that keep being implemented by an obstructionist, racist GOP Congress that keeps trying to "get" Obama on anything because they can't stand it that a black man is president of this country, so they will keep fueling lies about his birthplace, his political philosophies, his accomplishments, and keep trying to ferret out conspiracies where none exist...the latest, of course, being this Benghazi crap...

I am unaware of any taboo subject here.   Certainly, politics have been discussed here in the past, but emotions do run high from time to time and folks have been careful about fueling flames.  Nothing incendiary about Pogue's post, IMO.  It's pretty accurate given the blatant evidence that's out there for what he said.

My 2 cents.

TOD:   What I feel is a miscarriage of justice is letting convicted murderers free after minimal sentences.  Murderers should either be executed (when guilt is admitted or proof is irrefutable) or given a prison term "for life".   No ifs, ands or buts.

I realize that there have been "a few" instances where convicted murderers were found innocent many years later.   For those who are undeniably innocent in these cases, justice often turns its back and leaves them in prison for some reason...at least for a while.   Proof of innocence should result in instant release. Damn the DA's with political agendas who seek to stop justice from truly being done.

Maybe TIme Warner is having problems with the relay in your area because Gina Portman is downloading all of her late mother's movies and music on a file sharing site.

I'm dealing with Fed Ex nonsense at the moment. The vocal scores, because of their binding, will not fit into a large Fed Ex carton and there seems to be no packaging good for these ten scores. If the scores were unbound, 10 copies would fit into a Large carton, so why the fat hell don't they make an extra-large carton?

BK:  I understand your difficulties with "The Blue Max".  I remember a rather esoteric review in The Washington Post "raving" about the film's visual power while planes were in flight.  The reviewer was much taken with the film's footage of the airfields and takeoffs and landings.   And Jerry Goldsmith's score.  Not much positive was said about the film story itself or the major lead performers.   I think it needs a wide screen w/stereo spread to have enough power to hold one's attention from flight sequence to flight sequence.

Monday morning afternoon greetings!  I've been at my computer since before noon, but got distracted by an email that alerted me that the host for my book group's website could go bye-bye anytime.  Spent the last couple of hours saving much of it to my computer and printing black & white fast drafts for posterity.  We also use this host for our AAUW site, but we can turn that over to national (which we've been considering anyway).

I was looking at the L.A. weather.  It's not a Santa Ana, just good old HOT WEATHER.  Those were always the times I so treasured my Redondo Beach apartment.  Didn't even need a/c.

I drove down to see that place when I was out there last, and it was just as lovely as ever.  Maybe even nicer.  And it looked to be still apartments, not condos, which I found kind of amazing.  The address was 330 The Village, in case anyone knows that area.  I was right across from where they filmed the TV series RIPTIDE, adjacent to King Harbor.

Very much enjoyed the film when it was first released and still think it's an excellent film. It sounded really good as well. It was one of the few 35mm films in those days with a mag stereo soundtrack. From what I recall, it didn't particularly look good though.

Spoke with my mom yesterday.  She thought we were having the hot L.A. weather, too.  Told her it was very nice here in the Bay Area.  Actually, a system moved in over night and it's a bit cooler today.

Good morning, all! I have to be to Toyland by 9:00 for the piano tuner, so I was out of bed at 6:00am, and I feel like the Walking Dead. I slept really poorly last night: I law awake in the dark for over 90 minutes before I finally fell asleep, then f4om around 3 to 4am I had  horrible anxiety attack over my future - or lack of one - if the foundation does indeed fall apart, as I fear, then I had peculiar dreams about an endless walk with the Man from Philadelphia, Kim Criswell, and Jason Graae, and another in which the car I was sitting in was parked on Broadway around 43rd Street in the wrong direction by a truck driven by Tommy Krasker of PS Classics. After all of this mess, I was glad to get out of bed.

So, I'm heading down to Toyland. Then I will hopefully Fed Ex nine vocal scores for ROBERTA to Dublin and come home.

Oy!
