Here is the direct link to Miss Kuhlman and Dino - remember, the video takes about thirty seconds to start, then Dino comes in at around 3:35.

Good morning, all.

Last day of work before leaving for Louisville.

Too much to do today, too much to pack.

Good morning, all! I got some sleep last night, but it didn't stop the insane dreams.

The two I remember were my walking all over Queens trying to find the new apartment of a Drama Book Shop friend who died from AIDS around twenty years ago and waiting with a black friend in a restaurant/hotel surrounded by my possessions sitting on rolling carts and waiting for my dad to come and pick us up.

This morning, I have to stop at Kinko's and pick up a carton for these vocal scores, pack up the shipment and get it to Fed Ex. At 1:00pm, Rob Berman and I are hearing a possible leading man for the recording, and my friend Curtis asked me to give him a lead sheet of a Gershwin song for our friend Marnie to sing this weekend at the wedding of his friend Tom and his partner Travis.

Tomorrow, I'm working at home on the liner notes!

More coffee.

I think that means I'm tired.
Not enough sleep even for dreams.

Mega vibes everyone for Tuesday.

Boy, is that a trip down memory lane.  It took a few seconds for the name Kathryn Kuhlman to register, but between that and the video... wow!

Yes, I believe-uh in miracles.

Now and then some of Kathryn Kuhlman's shows are re-braodcast on the Jan and Paul Crouch show on their vast  television system TBN ....where Dino is still a regular.  He now plays a rhinestone encrusted piano....

I posted this elsewhere but wanted to share my warm memory of Joyce Brothers:

It was the programming person for my law school's speaker group, (before answering machine were the norm).  During summer break, my parents had gotten used to people calling at home from offices like those of wonderful speakers like Jane Pauley and Andy Rooney and Ellen Burstyn, to talk over their plans and topics for social issues and entertainment matters, in what was called the "Harvard Law School Forum." (They didn't get paid at a very adamant rule of the law school, but everyone tried to treat them really nicely, of course!).

Joyce Brothers, it happened, decided one evening to just pick up the phone herself rather than have her terrific assistant do it, and my dad got the call while I was out.  (For some reason, I remember what i saw that night, The Dance and the Railroad at the Public.)   My friend Keith relayed the next day my father having been on the phone with him asking, "Do you know where Freddie is?  Dr. Joyce Brothers is trying to reach him."

Keith called me the next day and burst out with [as if I were a patient of Dr. Brothers or something]:  "Who the [cuss word deleted] are you that Dr. Joyce Brothers called you?  And at home yet?"

It didn't work out with dates for her to speak that year, but I had such lovely conversations with her - and really, she never tried to analyze anything I said, LOL - just a warm, delightful lady, who while she was planning to do a speech, was genuinely interested in what the students would be interested in hearing about.

I've picked up the last photocopies and a carton for shipping the vocal scores, and now I wait for my colleague Curtis to send the shipping info.

Tuesday morning greetings!  In about 30 minutes, I'm expecting a phone call from Megan at AAUW national in which she will coach me through our new website.  Then at 2pm, the out-going Middletown president and I are meeting to discuss transitioning from her administration to mine.  We had a lovely installation banquet last night, but the new officers don't start officially until July 1.

The package is ready for shipment. I'm waiting on a revised customs form, and then I'll take the package to Fed Ex.

I wonder if that's because she though Joanie was a lesbian?

TOD:

My favourite outre show was Schoenling All-Nite Theatre with host Bob Shreve:  Schoenling was a beer company in Cincinnati and Shreve a local TV host who had been there for years  doing cartoon shows and Three Stooges, etc.  But All-Nite theatre was a blast where Shreve could get a little irreverent and wild.  It was on Friday nights, as I recall (maybe Saturdays too)...and it started around 1:00 (maybe it was earlier...11:30?) and went till about dawn, with three movies (sometimes good, mostly crappy) and Bob rambling in between them, pitching beer, reading fan letters, and doing bizarre comedy with a strange host of supporting players like Chickie (a rubber chicken), Spidel (A spider that flew by on a piece of string), and occasionally guests (like Morganna, the big-chested stripper known as the Kissing Bandit because she'd run out on the field of ballgames and kiss players).  Go to Youtube and type in Bob Shreve and it will probably bring up clips of the old show.  There is also a fb page for it.

Just checked Shreve on youtube.  The Show (or a variation of it was also called PAST PRIME PLAYHOUSE and did air on Saturday night.  Bob does have a website:  www.bobshreve.com

Don't get me wrong.  I'm busy.  It's just that the work I'm being given to do this morning was wanted yesterday, so there is pressure afoot.
