I have been impressed with the kindness my neighbor and some others have shown me this week. These are little things, mostly. My neighbor downstairs did a load of laundry for me the other day when I couldn't make it down to the laundry room. The mail lady, who I don't know, brought my mail upstairs to me yesterday. (The mailboxes are downstairs.) What a pleasant change from the grumpiness and sarcasm I usually encounter! As my neighbor said, sometimes it pays to be sick! (I don't agree, though.)

A question to all of you: If you were really rich which charities (or other causes) would you wish to donate to?

Scholarships in performing arts and grants to writers.

My thoughts, too. But I also like the animal rescue groups, which prompted this question. There's a new charity, based in Torrance, CA, I think, which is staffed by former military, who have experience in going into areas where there is no infrastructure and getting things organized. I forget their name. If I find or recall it, I'll post it.

I have not been at all happy with the United Way (too many scandals and wasted money) or the Red Cross (HORRIBLE inefficiency and disorganization after 9/11). In general, I prefer smaller organizations.

Well, things are awfully wet here. When I went out, I faced a few road closures because of flooding, but I was able to do my errands and make it back home. Surprisingly, I don't have any standing water in either front or back yard. The rain was so needed that it seems to have been all sucked up. Even a little sun is now breaking through.

Did they even release an album of TWANG?  I saw the original production of WINDY CITY in London.  Can't say it wowed me.

DR Elmore, I had weird dreams last night, too.  One was so scary and vivid that I was almost afraid to go back to sleep.  Must be the full moon...

I think it was the full moon that kept me from dreaming or sleeping.  I finally got up to take some Tylenol and walk around a bit.  The view of the landscaping in front of our house with the moonlight on it was lovely.

I was frustrated with the changes of the first one (the reboot), mainly because the characters are all different ages and J.J. Abrams had them all at Star Fleet at the same time.  That didn't make sense.  For this movie, that doesn't matter.  It all seems to make sense and was done very well...and the quality of special effects have been improved since the first movie.

Thank you and all very interesting, in fact more than what I wanted and am glad of it.  Let me re-word my question, between the 3D & the 2D which version did you prefer?

Ahh...I love the size and 3D of the IMAX, but the IMAX 3D was too loud.  But to me, the 2D was cropped more at the top and bottom to make it more widescreen than the IMAX, and seeing it after the IMAX, it all felt just a little too close.  I'm sure that if I had seen the 2D version first (or if I hadn't seen the IMAX at all), then it would be perfectly fine.  I did like that the 2D version as not as loud.  It was quite comfortable without being too quiet.

Thanks.  I don't like too loud & will keep that in mind when we see it.  We are waiting for friends who will be visiting soon.

Mostly animal groups.  I like the group that does plastic surgery on children around the world.  I'm sure there are more that I can't think of at the moment.

It is one reason I like the Romanian Animal Rescue group.  The woman who started it never takes a dime, in fact she has contributed an incredible amount of her own money, so much that I worry she will give it all away.

The elephants pattern is Animal Kingdom and the one you like is Green Leaf.  My very first Vera bag, a hand-me-down from my Mother, is in the Red Leaf pattern and it has her monogram on it.

These aren't mine, DR Jane.  They were donated to the AAUW garage sale and they asked me to research them to help with the pricing.  I DO have a hard time parting with my Vera, but I'm getting ready to trade some in to my retailer for credit.  She sells discontinued items in her consignment store at the mall.

I've just been reading about the flooding and rescues.  You really are lucky you just got the right amount of water.
