After Joplin many people got sick from a fungal infection from cuts and the mud and goop.  Joe wrapped himself in a comforter and only had a couple scratches, but didn't get hurt badly and didn't get any infection.   I'm now keeping my bicycle helmet down the basement too. They say that can help if something hits you in the head.

Joe was smart to wrap up in a comforter, and was lucky he had a minute to do so.  Excellent idea about the helmet.

The carousel is inside the Paramus mall.

Right.  I haven't seen enough of that mall.  We have one, too, in the Danbury Mall.

I can't imagine you are missing much.  Most of all I enjoyed the mall in the winter and the summer.  We didn't have air conditioning in the house.

An inside closet may be better than a hallway. That's how Joe survived the F5 in Joplin.  His house didn't, but he did

I read more about people surviving in bath tubs & closets than in hallways.

Bathtubs are good if the bathroom is an inside room.  You should also take a mattress or something to cover you in the tub to protect you from debris.   I go into a closet under my stairs in the basement.   I've started telling people I know that's where I go, so someone would know where to look for me if anything ever happens.

JohnG Do you have a safe room or a basement?

Hallway is the closest to it. They don't really do basements in San Antonio (and if they did, that would likely be under water now).

Maybe why you don't do basements.  We don't have them here.  Fires are more of a concern.

The ground isn't right.

But I'm sure you've heard all the safety tips...living in Texas and all

Actually, I don't think a tornado has been reported in San Antonio in decades.

I like the WINDY CITY score very much. When I saw it at Papermill, they had already screwed up the score that I loved on the recording. although that score is later than 1975, I think.

Smartly noted, Elmore, I saw it when it premiered in 1982.

I'm going to have to dig out that CD and give it a listen. It's been a while.

My friend, Diane, took yesterday off work and drove up to my house.  Then we drove to Snoqualmie for lunch and some slot machines.  Apparently, after she dropped me at home. she got back to her home to find that the place and been broken into, and ransacked.

I have purchased three different potato peelers in the last couple of months, and not one of them works at all.  I am tempted to buy on of those electric things that you turn on and it turns around and around while it peels the potato.  I see it in all of those gadget catalogs.  I am sure it doesn't work, but I can't find one that works.

That would be really scary if we got a tornado here.  They are very very very (that is 3 verys) rare in Western Washington.

We have had a couple of tornados in Washington, only one that I can remember hitting Tacoma, and it touched down very briefly and caused very little damage.
