Well, you've read the notes, the notes were amplified, and now it is time for you to post until the amplified cows come home.

Can someone record and then send me a DVD of Behind the Candleabra - I don't get HBO and don't want to wait until it's released on DVD.

I was going to make my own (standard) DVD...just send me your address.  Anyone else?

It's sunny here but not warm. It's struggling to hit 50 degrees.

My brother came to my sister's (aka Kate) for lunch yesterday.  Later, my brother and I met our niece and her baby for dinner at Applebees.

It's 46 degrees in the Buffalo area, with a high of 64 forecasted.  But it's going to be a sunny day

I can't wait to see the 2 hour finale of SMASH tonight. I think the Tony awards sounds interesting.

Good morning, all.

It rained again over night, but not too much. Still no standing water in the yard, which is a good thing.

Great notes on the sound from Parade, BK. The production I saw of In the Heights suffered from the same. A great band (located on the second story of the set in the two facing buildings, raised a loud noise and you couldn't understand all of the lyrics, which is necessary in understanding the action.

I, too, would like to see Parade, because I enjoy the CD. It's not the second coming or the third, but I like it.

Good morning, all! When I last looked  at the clock, wondering why I couldn't get to sleep, it was 3:20 am. Well, when the alarm went off at 7:20, I forced myself out of bed. I have got to cart this fan down to Toyland this morning.

Since I haven't been there in five days, i'll check the place out, ascertain no one's broken in, check a wrong note question and prepare for work on Tuesday.

DR CharlesPogue, I seem to think in two time zones: pre- and post-1979, when I moved to New York. I have this vague memory that I first heard of WINDY CITY from Ken Mandelbaum (whatever happened to Ken?) after he saw the show in London. I didn't meet him until some time after 1981, so I figured the show couldn't be any older than that.

At some point after that, I met Dick Vosburgh, one of the writers. and we had the usual "what happened to WINDY CITY" discussion with him. This might have been when it was being done at Papermill or in Chicago. I knew the show wasn't a big success in London, but I still like the score a lot. The last time I saw Dick Vosburgh was in London in 1999; h died in 2007.

We have started using microphones for everybody - even in the straight plays - at the Putnam County Playhouse.....because our audience says they can't hear.....and of course the young actors don't know how to speak up or sing loud.....they stand on stage and talk as if they are having a conversation with each other.....it's very annoying.

STAR SEARCH and AMERICAN IDOL type singing and audience reactions are also the bane of my theatre-going existence.

Today is the day of the 500 Mile Race which used to be a BIG DEAL, until the owner of the Speedway said to hell with tradition and the rest of Indiana, I'm going to do what I want....I own the property and I am the only one who knows anything.  He upset everyone, reconfigured the track....pitted the open wheel racers against the regular cars....and created BAD will around the world.

Thank you, Tony Hulman....you and your drunk sister have taken the only thing that Indiana was known for worldwide....well except for John Dillinger....and turned it into a mockery of what it once was.  AND just because it is so funny to me....a couple of years ago, there was a big family and proxy fight....and the Hulman's lost the race track!  HAHAHAHA. [UPDATE: I guess the Hulman-George family and corporation still own it, but they no longer run it].

May used to be 500 month, there were activities all over the state and interest was high....now....it's just another race.

Sort of like when we went from ONE STATE BASKETBALL championship where ALL schools participated to having class basketball....now we have FOUR STATE CHAMPS....including....girl's basketball....which nobody is interested in, except the girls and their parents....

And while I'm at it.....you kids git off my lawn!!!

Miraculously, absolutely miraculously, I was able to sleep in till just about 9:30.  That's almost unheard of these days.

I nominate today's notes for a TONY.

Seriously.  BRAVO, SIR.

I want to know one thing:  Who was the first person ever to amplify the BAND or ORCHESTRA in a Broadway show?

That is very good to hear.

Even if I was forced by his previous post to picture DR Elmore performing the Wrong Note Rag.

Unamplified.

About 4-5 months ago, three young guys moved into the house across the street from us.  Apparently, the wealthy parents of one bought the house for him...and he moved in with his buddies.

For the last few weeks, they house appeared to be "abandoned," then 3-4 days ago, there have been repairmen doing work on the property, and now there is a "For Sale" sign up.

Turns out that the boys had turned the place into a meth lab and when the parents found out, they kicked them out.

That's all I need across the street from me: a meth lab.

Bane (well, Baines anyway) is also the name of the title character played by Ralph Richardson in FALLEN IDOL.
