Today is our last performance of the first weekend of "Cinder Edna."  We have two more weekends after this.  I'm running the sound board and, very topical, I'm trying not to blow out everyone's ears with the microphones.  There have been a few problems with a couple of the microphones crackling and popping, but it's not because of the actors' saying their "Ps" or "Ts" too loudly.  It's something electronic and I don't have the experience or training to really troubleshoot it.  I can only do what I can and hopefully, it'll all sound pretty good.  We did actually lower the volume of the band and that made it easier for me to lower the volume of the actors and to control that.  So far, so good. 

We had a good performance today, but a couple of microphones were wonky today when they hadn't been before!  WTF??  Anyway, the only thing that I can think of to do is to swap the microphones between the actors.  There are nine mics and after today's show, I just randomly mixed them up.  I have my script with me so that I can write in the new mic numbers, because I need to learn the new numbers.

Our Senior Pastor is in Austin Texas for a week long immersion study  of Spanish

So our Associate Pastor (Flora) was presiding with the Vixter as her assisting minister, all four communion assistants were women as was the acolyte - not a man to be seen!

Just got an invite to a backer's audition/presentation of that musical about Studio 54 directed by Tommy Tune.  I'm GOING!

Cool!  Can't wait to read (what you're able to write) about it.

Dear BK,
I am only a theater ticket buyer, and I have absolutely no knowledge whatsoever about sound design and mics and the like. But I am sure that exactly what you are describing is going on at our tour theater. I can rarely understand what they are saying or singing. And it is all SO LOUD. Maybe that's why I enjoy the local small theater so much more. I can follow the story so much better there.

after  the first coffee hour as over  there was our second service and the Latino service which gave me time to clean up the kitchen a bit, make  8 more pots of coffee, replenish the snacks table and be ready for the next wave of hungry  and thirsty parishioners

Then around noonish I cleaned up the kitchen put all the supplies away

then I  cleaned up the communion o n the Chapel and the main sanctuary  and changed out all the hangings from white to green in preparation for next week

then I took  "my" old lady out to lunch at the local diner

and finally headed home  a little after 3PM , stopping to pickup a Subway sandwich for Vixdad  on the way home

Vixdad kindly took me to Friendly's for ice cream

Belgiam waffle with nutty caramel ice cream and sliced almonds and caramel sauce

and now I am exhausted and  fat and lazy

Back from a celebration of three bar and bat mitzvahs in the Bronx.  Really beautiful, it was for triplets who seem to really care a lot for each other, and what a gorgeously done shared ceremony, 

How very sweet.  In Pennsylvania one of our babysitters and triplet younger sisters.  Their mother told me that in the triplets group she belonged to many of the father's split shortly after the babies were born.  She greatly appreciated her husband.

I agree Laura -  they do not even teach young people  how to project their voices anymore - they are all dependent upon body mics - if the mics  mis-function well the audience is just out of luck and I am so tired of not being able to hear the singers over the band

For anyone who wants to see the Jeanne Cooper memorial on Y&R it will be on tomorrow in Canada and Tues May 28th in the US. I guess I will need some tissues.

I am curious, one of my niece's names is Megan, which we pronounce May-gan. That is how I hear everyone here pronounce it.

But every time I hear someone in the US pronounce it they say Meh-gan.

She heard someone on tv pronounce it the second way and it freaked her out.
