Nope, I'm at the office. I will be Monday through Friday until the afternoon of July 3rd when the office closes and we close for 2 days and then I will be taking the following Monday and Tuesday off as well.

Is DR ELMORE the only one of us working today?

Apparently...     :)

Hey!  I'm at work.

Although I guess that's not exactly the same thing.

DR TCB - is that really you? Or is that some generic Internet baby photo?

I am at the office, too. Would anyone like to do my work for me?

Hello from Amsterdam!   I'm staying in a very strange hotel.  My room has hardly any light and the tv doesn't work.  The woman at "reception" is going to let me change rooms later.

On a happier note, I went to see the Brooklyn Singer last night.  The audience was really enthusiastic--so much so that she did an extra (brief) encore.  I think it may have been one if best concerts.

The Brooklyn Singer would be Roslyn Kind?

Give it to DR Ron Pulliam. He's already covering so many desks, he won't even notice.

Well, it's still Doughnut Day and I think we need another Doughnut Dance.
Yes sir, right in the middle of the page.

It is both an honor and a privilege to have found this one in the box of slides with those others.
It's undated, but I was taking these in the mid-1970s:

Not sure if I'm up to normal food or not - surely I'd love a donut in honor of the day, but not sure I'm up to that either.  Certainly I'm not up to jogging right now.  Maybe later.

Looks like we're all about ready for a good game of Kick the Can!

If we're going to play Kick the Can, I'll need to remove my glasses - and my pearls!

Actually, my Mother discouraged my playing Kick the Can because she thought it was too rough.

What is a New York Style Vienna Hot Dog?

To my knowledge, it's a complete misnomer, DR Jrand62.  Vienna is the big thing in Chicago dogs, not NY ones.  But maybe that was a little different back then?  No idea.  Nevertheless...they are forgiven!  :)

It is a NYC street cart hot dog, consumed while being serenaded by a Broadway chorus member singing Frank Wildhorn's song, "Vienna."

But now that I look at the sign, "New York Style" and "Vienna" are two separate elements.  So, they could certainly have served a hot dog in the style of a New York one (with the cooked onions-in-sauce thing, for instance?), but using Vienna brand wieners.  That would work.

I think I will order a Vienna Style New York Hot Dog next time I am out someplace and see what I get.  All of the definitions sound most interesting.....

Or maybe as DR CHAS SMITH says - the sign painter was just trying to put everything on the work order on one sign.

OK, so no one in the office remembered National Donut Day, but someone did remember National Chocolate Ice Cream Day and passed around cups. Much more to my liking.  :)
