I'll have to get that Blu-ray of THE ODD COUPLE.

After just having watched THE KID STAYS IN THE PICTURE, I can only imagine Robert Evans putting forth the same attitude in ANY documentary about ANY film.  That's a hoot.  But it's unfortunate that so much of the material included is so lacking and unbalanced.

Does any film or video exist of any of the original stage productions?

I'm reading Legends, the infamous play by James Kirkwood that starred Carol Channing and Mary Martin. It's from 1986. It played for a year all over the country and never opened on Broadway. As I'm reading it I can see why it never opened. IMHO, so far the play is DREADFUL!!! I will read his book about the whole brouhaha, called Diary of a Mad Playwright, when I've finished the play.

I know there were many reasons why the show never made it to Broadway but I really think that one of them was the play stinks and even two stars couldn't save it.

From my recollection of reading this (lo, many years ago), it had some of the same problems that did in Moose Murders - a bad script to begin with, plus at least one star that could not learn their lines.    :P

I should mention for DR Ginny's reading pleasure that I fondly remember first seeing THE ODD COUPLE on a delightful evening out with my family at the Mariemont Theater.

Those, of course, were the days with packed theaters full of people of all ages loving and laughing their arses off at the latest Neil Simon film.  Some magical times were had.

Good morning, all! I have lots to accomplish today, so we'll see how far I get. I slept late, so my schedule's screwed up, but I must head down to Toyland for a bit of work. Then, I must stop for a birthday gift and stop at the market to pick up something I'm taking to tonight's Tony party.

As I posted last year, I believe, I once looked forward to the Tony Awards, but the further I get from working on Broadway, the less I care about them. My friend Peter Lawrence was gven one yesterday in the awards ceremony they feel no one cares about, and I'm very happy for him.

A "Glitter and Be Gay" more spirited than usual, at least for a concert setting:

I saw a scene from Kinky Boots and didn't realize that the lead female was Billy Porter until I saw a list of the Tony Nominees and pictures from their shows!.

Is this the same Billy Porter that recorded Where's Love on Liz Callaway's album: The Story Goes On?

DR FJL, you are correct about that! FINIAN'S RAINBOW happened after I'd decided my chances of being involved with a Broadway production were nil. Still, given what's playing and being optioned, I think my chances of another are very low.

And greetings from Toyland!

Last night around midnight, the raccoon was back by my window. It scratched and scratched and I could tell it was trying to get in. I went outside several times to try to see where it was and to chase it away. Boo got out one of those times, at 2:00 AM and luckily I grabbed her in the yard, but that was a huge scare.

When I got back in I could hear the raccoon in the wall or at least I'm pretty sure she was in the wall. I banged on the wall and made noise trying to show this isn't a good place to call home. It finally got quiet and we went to sleep. This morning I looked out and the eaves over the front door (right under my bedroom window) have been pulled away and so has some of the facia (sp?) I'm pretty sure that it made a big enough hole to get in the walls. It would make sense from the sounds we were hearing. The cats were wound up and frankly so was I. I think it was the first time the raccoon actually got in

This morning after chasing down the paper carrier in my pajamas to get my newspaper, I met Paul at Panera (after forgetting about a detour between here and there and having to go back) I asked some police officers there (getting coffee) what to do, they said call animal control. Animal control called me back and said all their traps are rented out, but if I found one they would empty it. They did give me the number of a private trapper and since it's not raccoon season he has to release them. I called him and he said he'd be here in an hour! That was about 1/2 hour ago. He's not cheap, but he'll take care of it. Now I'll need a carpenter to fix the damage.

It's been one thing after another for the past 10 hours. Luckily I have a sense of humor. Oh did I mention that the Journal put a photo of me in today that looks like I'm constipated? LOL! I sent them a photo the first time they published this one and said I'd prefer they use it. It was just a quote about immigration no biggie, but it was one more thing to laugh about.

My trip to see my parents has been postponed.  Mom agreed completely and this way I can get the trapper here today.
I guess my dad is having some stomach issues, so it's probably for the best anyway

I can't wait until the trapper gets here. I've had about 2 1/2 hours of sleep and really want to take a nap.  The biggest scare last night was Boo running outside in the rain at 2:00 AM. I knew there was at least one raccoon around and they can be very vicious when cornered.  Plus, she's an inside cat.  Anyway, I flew out the door and down the steps and got her right away.  She was wet, but safe

It is raining still.  I really don't mind it.  It's better for me than the heat we had last year.  I'll have to check the rain gauge when the trapper arrives.

Sounds as if the reading went well....and I enjoyed the photos, of course, and seeing the new Slender BK.

DR JANE I love that quote as well.....the workers' faces are perfect all during the time Myrna Loy is speaking and after she walks away.....

It wasn't amusing last night as the raccoon was ripping a hole in the wood and pulling the eaves off, but once I knew he wasn't going to chew a hole in the wall and come into the living area of the house I was able to sleep.  This morning it all seems quite amusing.   So JRAND is there some astrological reason that everything is bonkers for me right now?

Paul's sister lives about 6 blocks from here.  They have trapped 30 raccoons so far this year.  I'm really hoping we don't catch that many, it could get very expensive for me to have the trapper man do it

Mark and I had a fabulous time at the reading yesterday. Bruce was his usual very funny self. And it was a happy accident for Mark that the cake wasn't available because that prompted Bruce to get a strawberry shortcake, which Mark had two pieces of. Normally, Mark doesn't get any cake because he's allergic to chocolate. Anyway, there was much back and forth discussion over where to dine, Granville or BJs. As soon as we got our menus, Bruce started obsessing over the calorie counts of everything. Jenna announced, "I always order the wrong thing in restaurants." She decided on the pot roast and Bruce immediately blasted her over hour many calories it was. And this girl is so skinny! Then Bruce is muttering, "the calorie counts at Granville aren't this high," which I found hysterically funny. Anyway, I'm sorry to read Bruce wasn't happy with his seafood, but Jenna was very happy with her pot roast (finally, she ordered the right thing!) and my turkey club sandwich was very nice. We tried to pay for our meal, but Bruce would have none of it! He was very entertaining and sang to us a couple selections from the last Kritzerland show we missed. We will be sure to attend the British invasion because Bruce is threatening to take away our beloved reserved table up front. Nooooo!!

I also liked that scene because when I put on my jacket, I kept the ladle in my hand and put it through the sleeve....talking all the while....  I forget if that piece of business is in the movie....  Another vote for the terrific Neal Hefti score.....
