Could you ever assemble a cast like that for a full run, though? It'd likely get expensive.

Feels like Anika Noni Rose is on her way to being a stage regular, even though she could likely make a fortune in movies. I wnjoyed her so much in PURLIE at Encores also.

Surprising argument going on at castrecl, about whether British musicals or U.S. musicals are better, but they seem to be basing the discussion on who's getting the Oliviers and the Tonys. Not sure I'm understanding the vitriol there. Who gets the top award can't really be an example of what the other country as a while sees as quality - it's so few people.

For reasons like that, would ROCKY be called a German musical even though its creators are all American?

Am I being confusing? hope not.

Good morning, all! I believe I slept well. The alarm rang at 645, and I thought, I'll have 5 more minutes, please. An hour later, to my embarrassment, I dragged myself out of bed. I had been dreaming that I was backstage before a performance of DEAREST ENEMY and all the girls were dressed in big wigs and big dresses.

And I am off to Toyland. I've got to bind the new print of "Don't Ask Me Not To Sing" into the vocal scores, finish my list of what new pages need to be printed for the full scores, and deliver a set to the Kern estate attorney. Before I can leave Toyland, I need to clean up some workspace for printing and taping orchestra parts so we are ready to go this weekend.

DR FJL, I was going to comment on the Brit insult on the Cast Recording List. That was truly an insulting email that John M from MA sent. I had been expecting a retort from one particularly smug British correspondent and it may turn up yet.

BK, I think Jason's Jerry Herman show is a great idea for a DVD! Sign me up for a copy.

Well, tonight I finally get my music for the show I'm playing the next two weeks. The delay was due to the director changing and adding stuff right and left, until the MD finally said "Stop!!! Enough already!". Anyhoo, it's an R&H revue called "Some Enchanted Evening", and I'd be very surprised if R&H sanctioned so many alterations, but ..... whatever. Ain't my responsibility. Just a gig.

I thought the mystery track was Bernstein as well.....but somebody else seems pretty sure that it's Alfred Newman....so who knows...

I don't know the film either, but it does sound like a western.....
