I have seen a lot of Sondheim shows, some community theater and some professional. I actually turned down the role of Bobby in COMPANY, because I thought I wanted to be in this production (a horrible horrible production) of SWEET CHARITY. The week after CHARITY closed, the director of COMPANY called and asked me if I could come in and take over the role of Larry in the COMPANY production, so I ended up in the show (a great great production), but not as Bobby.

FORUM has turned out to be one of my favorite Sondheim shows, but I still hate the movie version. I saw Nathan Lane and Mark Linn-Baker do it on Broadway, and I thought it was fantastic. I love SWEENEY, in fact I think I wore out my video. I like INTO THE WOODS, but I really think they should cut about twenty to twenty five minutes out of the first act. I have had major surgeries that lasted less time than the first act of INTO THE WOODS.

I don't think I have listened to PACIFIC OVERTURES enough to judge it; and I don't really care for PASSION, but I have never seen it performed. I have tried to like SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, because everybody else seems to love the show, but the first time I saw it I fell asleep in it, and the second time I just wished I would fall asleep.

I got home around eight-thirty, then decided to do a jog - I did two-and-a-half miles thanks to feeling food guilt from today. So nice to be back on the big boy computer. The little Macbook Air is so tiny you go blind trying to read the damn print.

Hello, all,
First time reader replying, finding my way. Forgive any missteps.

TOD - I fell in love with Mr. Sondheim's work through the album of COMPANY, yet to this day, I've never seen the actual show. I did see the Reunion Concert's only night before it's B'way showing, this one in Long Beach, CA. And I did the show three times, twice as Paul in the original version, once as Bobby with the added scenes and song.

My first full Sondheim show viewing was A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC's National Tour with Ed Evanko and company. By the time I saw it, I was already in love with the score. I fell in love with the show that night, and have been blessed with having worked in lots of Sondheim since.
