My dad was a western fan, big time. THE VIRGINIAN, HIGH CHAPPERAL (sp), GUNSMOKE, and BONANZA were always on in our home.

As a teenager I began to watch BONANZA off and on when a particular favorite would be guest starring...like Gloria Talbott, Merry Anders, of Cal Bolder.

Lately, I have been watching WYATT EARP, which I find to be much better than I thought it would be. Also, the short lived series that starred John Gavin titled DESTRY is kind of fun and I am glad that I picked up the dvd set.

MAVERICK is another one that I enjoy seeing, and any episode of CHEYENNE where Clint Walker removes his shirt (which is just about every one) is a good episode.

Mike, have you ever seen YANCY DERRINGER, staring Jock Mahoney.

Started watching "Django Unchained," but I have to get to bed. Love the cameos and the music, but this is one loooooooong movie. (I know, if I had paid attention to the previous comments, I would have known that before starting it. But sometimes, I just have to learn things on my own.)

The last few days of postings have made me very nostalgic.
I miss the Westwood Village of the '70's....loved seeing a movie at the Bruin or the Fox, then going for a bite at the Moustache Cafe ( terrific chocolate souffles), Alice's Restaurant, Hamburger Hamlet, or some other great jernt in the vicinity. Such a shame that gang activity was not halted before it was too late. A tourist was shot and killed, and it was bye-bye Westwood Village.

Give me a single-screen theater any day.
I worked at The Silver when I was in college, a terrific little movie theater in Silver Spring, Md.
Goldie Hawn would come in and visit with her family...she was delightful.
I believe it is now known as The AFI Silver Theater and Cultural Center.

There are still a few single-screen theaters in Southern California, and I always support them...the Aero in Santa Monica and the Lido in Newport Beach are my favorites.
I also support small, independent bookstores....there are 2 in Malibu...Bank of Books, also in Ventura where I believe DR Sam lives...and Diesel Bookstore. Everyone is very helpful and friendly, the staff discusses books and authors, and they regularly hold book signings and events. Long may they reign.

I will never forget working in Westwood Village during the summer of 1977.
When I left work one August day, I noticed groups of people with tears in their eyes, hanging around the newspaper stand. Groucho Marx had passed away that day, and we all ended up going out for drinks, stories, and comfort.

Should I or should I not do a second jog - it's a bit late to be thinking about it, but I just ate a foot-long Subway club and am feeling guilty even though calorie-wise it put me right at 1200.

Old World Restaurant--yes! My very first veggie burger was consumed there.
I also have memories of running into Regis Philbin, all of the time in Westwood. He hosted a local show, A.M. Los Angeles, and would do ridiculous stunts in the village on weekends, long before he became a well known celebrity.
Also, those Hare Krishna gatherings every weekend.....it was an amazing time.

I'm listening to a bootleg audio recording of Meredith Willson's 1491 - I have to say the audience seems to be loving it. Some of the songs are very pleasing and we'll do at least one of them in our August Willson/Gene de Paul evening.

Kelly worked for ages in San Antonio and this past year went to work for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, where two of my best friends work. They quickly found out they had a mutual friend in me.
