And I am hone from Toyland after a fantastic work session with Rob Berman, who goes off to Poughkeepsie on Monday to work on the new Steve Martin bluegrass musical.

This is not an expansion of the score Martin wrote for As You Like It, is it? That was bluegrass, which I know is his latest passion.

I know nothing about this show.  Rob is stepping in to replace someone.

Sounds intriguing. Actually, sounds a lot more promising than this Stephen King musical I'm listening to. Some of John Mellancamp's lyrics work, then he tries rhyming "names" with "graves." Worse, he doesn't seem to understand how to write for the theater. A bit of dialogue just stops so a character can sing some interior monologue that covers ground already covered in the dialogue. Nothing worse, in the theater, than a musical where the songs are unnecessary.

In my CD player:  Judy Kuhn's "All This Happiness"* and right after that will be the original Broadway cast recording of "Kinky Boots."
 
In my Blu-ray/DVD player:  Season 1 of "Smash."  I know I have a couple of other things, but I don't remember what they are.
 
*I just noticed that at the end of the booklet for "All This Happiness," there's an ad for "Passion" on PS Classics, but it shows the original picture with Melissa Errico.  Guess that CD was released before the finalizing of "Passion."

What did you think of "All This Happiness"?

I also sometimes add just a touch of mustard when I make it.

I'm an egg salad traditionalist. When you sneak in something like curry powder and don't tell me, I take it a little too personally.

I have always agreed with this until I tried our son's  Vegenaise brand of vegan mayo.  It was sweet and delicious.  I don't use mayo enough to keep jars of it now that Craig has moved out.  He lived here for about a year and a half before returning to Maryland to get a teaching degree.

There was a restaurant in Royal Oak, Michigan that put black olives in their's.  It was very tasty but never worked as well when I did it.

I'm listening to Kinky Boots and I was interested in the real story, not just the movie.  I came across THIS article that was linked from the Kinky Boots (film) Wikipedia article.  It's interesting.  They really did get into erotic footwear, but the company doesn't make them anymore.  They're still in business, but not making boots for men.  Interesting.

What did you think of "All This Happiness"?

I love Judy Kuhn, so I enjoyed it.  It was not a traditional "theater"-type recording, but a delightful, intimate recording.  A small combo of just drums & percussion, piano and acoustic & electric cello (only three musicians) accompanies her.  Unless someone objects to her song choices or the order of them, I think you'll like it.

So DR Jane what did you have to do to get your books back on your new nook?

My books returned, well one did easily and the other I just needed to access my Barnes and Noble library and download it again.

With a bit of work I remembered how to download my Overdrive (public library) and get that working again.  I tested I could download a book to be sure it was ok.

I did find where to add the 2nd email address.  Basically all is fine again except for the annoying extra 5 books in my Barnes & Noble wish list that I have purchased.  They even show I have purchased them which is why I can't remove them.

The Nook works as smoothly as a Nook will work so I am very happy.

Do you not keep all your books on your nook?  I don't take mine off. Just move them to a read folder on my kindle.

Most of the books I read are from the public library & they are returned to the library.  I move the Barnes & Noble books off my home page but can access & download them again any time I want. 

The wish list is for books I want to purchase in the future.  Once I purchase a book it should go away from the wish list.  For some reason those 5 books are still in my wish list.  Originally, before the darn shut down & reset they had me do I went from only 2 of those books to a very annoying 5.  No one has any idea why this has happened.

Does your Kindle have a wish list?  I love having a quick list to purchase from when I need a book.

I'm not sure if the actual kindle has a wishlist. I know there is one in my amazon.com account. Although I don't use it. But I might be able to get to it on my actual kindle. But since I have so many books backed up to read I don't really have the same problem that you do (having to purchase a book to read).

I still can't believe that you go from book to book not having piles of books/ebooks waiting for you.  I have so many books in my room, on my kindle, at netgalley and at the library that I won't run out for a very long time.

We lived for 13 or 14 years in the hot humid East Coast before we got a house with air conditioning.  Why or why did we do that!!

I think air conditioning is one of the top inventions of all time!

And speaking of NOOKS, it was my understanding that they are getting rid of/going to stop making their TABLETS but not their regular nook ereaders. And they are not going to stop selling ebooks.  So right now it probably shouldn't be a problem.

It's sort of confusing to me how amazon and kindles can be doing so well yet the numbers for B&N were so bad.

I agree with you since the Nook HD is rated as the best reader except for the new iPad. 

It is a shame the tablets aren't doing well. 

With my Nook working properly I no longer consider switching to the iPad mini.  I might though if the quality of the mini reader improves as the big problem with the Nook is the tablet part is just ok.

My 7" Nook HD is a tablet.  I like having a tablet vs just an eReader.   I can go to Goodreads and look up books.

I can go to goodreads on my kindle as well. But mostly just to update my reading.  I would love a tablet/Kindle Fire.

I have several e-books on my Amazon wishlist.  I just keep them there and debate.  Last night, I downloaded about 35 or so free e-books!  Most of them were just short stories, but three or four were full-length...and all free!

Before I purchase a book I double check that my library still doesn't offer it.  Before I purchase a book I check to see if my library has something available on my library wish list.  It used to be easier when I simply had a stack of books on my end table to choose from-lol

This conversation did motivate me to search B & N books beginning with the $2.99 and less books.  I was thrilled to find the next book I want to read in the Andy Carpenter series from David Rosenfelt.

With more browsing I added a few books to my wishlist, not discounted, and entered a contest at Goodreads to win "The Ocean at the End of the Lane".  So far I haven't won any books there which might not be such a bad thing because then I would have to read a regular book and review it-lol.
