... After Bryan was born he found a job working for a publishing company selling books to librarians...

Not just any company, though.  A major library vendor that provides the shuttle bus service for these conferences.  Thank you, Keith!

Well, that was many years & many moves later.  He didn't come up with the idea but he did reinstate it. :)

I was in awe of the ALA when I finally got to see it.  I'm looking at my little magnetic paperclip holder I got there.  Do you still receive tons of gifts as you walk around?

There's still a lot of stuff to be had, DR Jane, but I'm pretty careful about what I pick up.  I did get a free copy of the encore career book and had it autographed and some cool postcards from Lonely Planet travel books that I'm going to have framed.

Nice!

I remember I kept saying I wasn't a librarian and people would say take it anyway :)  I mostly got books to read.  I had to leave it all with Keith so I couldn't have too much.  After leaving the convention I hopped on one of the buses to downtown New Orleans. :)

Kev,

Just returned a little while ago from Sharon and John's house.

We were invited for a wine tasting luncheon.

It was very nice, Jess was there, and Ray and Jane.

Beautiful House, I had never been there.

The whole Gene de Paul issue is not that strange. The Wiki thing is worded very badly but 7 Brides was made into a stage musical and played on Broadway in 1982. It was, shall we say, a weak season that year. The show was nominated for Best Score but nothing else.

Here are the nominees for Best Musical for the 1983 Tony Awards

Cats (Winner)
Blues in the Night (Directed by Bruce's friend Sheldon Epps)
Merlin (with Nathan Lane)
My One and Only (with Tommy Tune and Bruce's friend Twiggy)

7 Brides starred Debby Boone and David Carroll and was not treated especially well by the critics.

It began previews on June 25, 1982, it opened on July 8, 1982 and it closed on July 11, 1982 for a total of 15 previews and 5 performances.

You are correct, Ben, I should have said "strangely worded."

My ground beef patty with cheese did not smell or taste nearly as good as the food at the Taste of Tacoma.

Little Woman, Les Mis, Etc Etc ......

I'm watching the PBS show about the Annie revival on Broadway.  It was fun seeing BK's friend Todd Ellison, who was at Joe Allen with the HHW group last year.

Kevin,  No, Hyde Park is a movie based on President Roosevelt's life.  Bill Murray plays him

It is on Movies on Demand on our cable channel.

We have Gone With the Wind.

I would like David Copperfield.  We had the opportunity to purchase a Dickens manuscript, or part of one.  I can't remember.  While tempting it wasn't one that I wanted and not worth the price to me, or to pursue if it was authentic.

For those who have watched - who is the Mrs. Hannigan who is shown briefly when they show the performance clip near the end of the documentary? It didn't look like Jane Lynch to me.
