Another question for Bk:

Do you like magazines, and if so, what are you favorite ones?

I used to subscribe to tons of magazines in the early 70s - Time, Newsweek, the New Yorker, New York - and bought regularly TV Guide, After Dark, and a bunch of film magazines every month, including Sight and Sound, Films in Review, Films and Filming and several really esoteric ones.  After about 1984 I was done with all of them.

DR JRands' Wednesday question:

Born in: Medford, Oregon

Now living: Salem, Oregon (300 miles north of Medford)

Lived always in Oregon.

Now tell us how many times the state has asked you to move to another.

Had a fairly horrible night trying to sleep - I think it was around three again.  I was up at around nine-thirty but stayed in bed until the doorbell rang an hour later.  My voice is pretty trashed this morning but most of the scratchy throat is gone and replaced by a phlegmy throat.  I hate this stuff and can only hope that I have a voice for Sunday's show.  I'll probably have to talk today at rehearsal otherwise I'll be quiet until the stumble-through on Saturday and hope for the best.

A fifteen year old Amish boy and his father were in a mall. They were amazed by almost everything they saw, but especially by two shiny, silver walls that could move apart and then slide back together again.

The boy asked, 'What is this Father?'
The father (never having seen an elevator) responded, 'Son, I have never seen anything like this in my life, I don't know what it is.'

While the boy and his father were watching with amazement, a fat old lady in a wheel chair moved up to the moving walls and pressed a button. The walls opened, and the lady rolled between them into a small room. The walls closed and the boy and his father watched the small numbers above the walls light up sequentially.

They continued to watch until it reached the last number… and then the numbers began to light in the reverse order.
Finally the walls opened up again and a gorgeous 24-year-old blond stepped out.

The father, not taking his eyes off the young woman, said quietly to his son.....

A lady was traveling on a train with her baby.

The man sitting next to her happened to glance at the baby when the woman removed the blanket.  He said:  "Whew!  That's an ugly baby.  I've never seen a baby that ugly.  That is the HOMELIEST baby I have ever seen in my life!"

The woman called the conductor who came rushing down the aisle.  The woman said:  "This man insulted me.  I didn't pay good money to ride this train and be insulted."

The conductor said: "We want our customers to have a good time on our trains.  If you follow me, I will find you seat in another car.  We will also give you a complimentary dinner....and perhaps I can find a banana for your monkey."

Took delivery of a Blu-ray import today (US to UK) and got caught for Customs charges, which seems to happen more frequently nowadays. Charges are based not just on the cost of the item but also on the amount of international postage. International postal charges from the US are high enough but having a Customs charge of about $18 on top of everything else makes it prohibitively expensive to import many DVDs/CDs etc from the US to the UK.

That is high!

One Mother's Day my mother was visiting family on the Isle of Man and I sent her a little mother's day necklace.  I made the mistake of insuring it.  She said the tax was more than the necklace & postage combined.

I certainly don't love it, but I liked this last episode a little more than the first episode.  I'll watch it for a while and probably end up seeing the whole thing, since it's a limited series.
